Chapter 1: The Note, The King, The Boy

Queen Rose's P.O.V

As I woke up, I felt the other side of the bed. "Love?" I said in a whisper, no response. I opened my eyes and looked at the other side of the bed, what I saw? No body, just a note. It read "My love, I am going out today, I shall be back, I love you and, please keep our child safe. From, your universe" I smiled and rubbed the huge bump now falling under 5 months of pregnancy. The smile soon faded as I heard my maid, Mrs. Putter burst into the room.

"Your majesty! Come with me now!" I looked at her confused as she hurried to my side of the bed and helped me get off. "Miss, what is wrong?" I said and looked slightly shocked. She whispered in my ear and I grabbed at my necklace which Frost had given to me on our wedding day. I could only manage a soft whisper as I asked "...He's what?". She nodded her head and held me as I sobbed softly into her shoulder. 

"Shhh, Rose, it's alright. I'm still here, I'll take care of you until I die of something down here. Or I'll steal your child!" she said in an attempt to make me laugh. I smiled slightly and grabbed one of her hands. As soon as we left my bedroom, Ms. Putter with her crazy blue hair and her circular glasses ran off and grabbed me a cup of blueberry coffee, it did remind me of her hair. I stayed near her side even as everyone in the castle whispered about me, probably everyone was wondering why I was out here in a t-shirt and shorts which shows a little bit of my tanned skin which is now a round bump. 

As soon as we sat down at the table I covered my eyes with my hands and sobbed. My husband was found charred and drained of blood, dead. He was found pale and lifeless and the only people who could've done that were vampires. 

"What are you going to do now, your majesty?" A garden worker asked me. I smiled and said "The only people who would have killed our beloved king would be vampires. That would explain why he was drained of blood and had bite marks all over him. My husband was killed, and for what? He never did anything to harm any other type of 'mythical' being!" I said, my voice getting louder and I stood up. As I did, Mrs. Putter stood by my side and looked out at the crowd that has now gathered around me. 

I looked around at the crowd and rubbed the bump on my stomach. Some people smiled at this and others just looked at me, there eyes asking "What comes next?". I sighed "I know you all are wondering what we do now, we have to move on. We can't simply stay standing in one painful memory. We all miss my husband, King Frost. I believe he died to protect us from something bigger than this incident. I believe one great man has fallen to protect the lives of everyone around him and he did it with pride," I said and Moon Putter grabbed my free hand. "I think we need to establish a new law. If vampires are just going to come into our underground to have a feast? We're setting ground rules."

This is the day we all found peace in law 1128; Vampires are a forbidden species to Elvin property. The year currently is 3045, before anyone asks.

Four Months Later

A beautiful baby boy was born, I named him Caleb, Caleb Frost, frost after his father.  In the same month, a girl was born, a vampire. She was to be the heir of their throne. Her name? Alissa Moon. 

As soon as I heard the news I cursed under my breath. "Does she have a suitable heir in Vampira?" I asked as I sat down, holding Caleb on my breast and I bounced up and down in my seat and smiled down at him. Laura Lockhart, head of council, nodded her head. "Yes, she does but she doesn't seem to like any of the suitable boys or girls there," She said and nodded towards Caleb "It leads me to worry about adventurous little Caleb over here. What if they somehow meet and fall in love? What about your law? What would we do then?" she said and looked at me.

"I... I don't know," I looked up at her and bit my lip. "I guess we would have to remove the law that forbids Vampires from even stepping foot on Elvin property. I can't ruin Calebs life. He's the only thing I have and Mrs. Putter." I said and my eyes became a glassy blue.

Laura cleared her throat and smiled at me which only made me smile back. "I know you miss Frost, we all miss him but, we must move forwards and figure out a path for your son, our only heir to take." she said and got up and left the meeting. I looked down at Caleb and smiled "You're killing me smalls, killing me."
