"What?" I stood confused.

"Never mind," She looked down at the floor, her eyes started watering, like she was going to cry, "It's notblike it mattered anyway."

"No, I want to know it is important!" Her brown hair fall into her face, she looked back up at me, tears were streaming down her face now.

She put her extremely shakey hands on front of her face as if to shield her from something. "She's *hic* dying and it's all my fault!" she said her voice cracked multiple times and hiccups interrupted her speech.

"Who's dying?" I did this kind of awkward kind of comfortable half hug to support her.

"My mom," She sucked in her breath quickly and sobbed it out, "I hit her with my car and and now she is in the hospital!" She started shaking more now and her body went somewhat limp, so I was holding her up.

I look around and realize we are still in the school hallway, a lot of kids had stopped and were staring at us.

I took her outside and sat on a bench behind the school with her, I put my arm around her shoulder.

"Ok, now tell me what happened." I command.

"I had to pick my mom up from her work, because her car broke down and it's in the shop," she took a deep breath and continued, "I was pulling up, I was having trouble stopping, but thought nothing of it. So when I pulled up, I could-couldn't stop, she was in front of me, and I hit her." She paused, "She's in the hospital, she's in a coma, and she's slowly dying from internal bleeding. Both of her legs are broken, I could hear them snap when I hit her." Tears flowed from her eyes, and she sniffled, "She's dying, and I can't tell her- I can't tell her that I love her, and I'm sorry."

I frowned and hugged her, she hugs me back and cries into my shoulder after a while, she stops, I shake her slightly and I chuckle, "Did you really fall asleep?" She doesn't respond.

I shook her until she wakes up, "Hey?" she hums to tell me she's listening, "Do you want to ditch school? I think you need it."

She nods. "Alright let's go." I take her to the parking lot.

I open up the passenger side door she gets in, and I close it behind her. Out of the corner of my eye I see some people pointing and talking to each other. I got in the drivers seat and started the car. I drove out onto the road, then said, "we can go to my house since my mom is working until later, and my dad-" I trailed off.

"Is he in the hospital again?" She asked, I nodded.

The drive was silent until we get to the house, we were at the front door, I looked through my keys, and they jingled as they moved. I found the right key finally, and put it in the lock and turned it until a metallic crunch was heard and my key was broken off in the lock. I sighed and rested my forehead on the door for a moment.

She hugged me from behind and rested her head on my shoulders sleepily "That's ok if we can just go to my house."

"No, the back door is open, I can go in through there."

"What about the fence?" She asks.

"Don't worry, I've got it." She let go of me, and I climbed over the locked fence that surrounds my backyard. I went through the back door and opened the front door. "Here's the remote to the TV in my room, go pick something to watch while I make popcorn." She nodded and headed off to my room.

I want to work in the kitchen, putting popcorn in the microwave and heating up water. When I was done. I had 2 cups of hot cocoa, a bowl of popcorn and a bottle of chocolate syrup.

I will come to the room with everything balancing in my arms. I took a cup of hot cocoa and the ball popcorn I sit down on my bed, ridiculousness was playing on the TV "Man," I handed her the chocolate syrup "it's been forever since we watch this."

Yeah, I thought it would be nice to just chill out like old times.
