"Stop right there." The words cut through the chill forest air, making Rai stop uneasily. He looked around, only to find some unassuming, but powerful villagers.
"What are you doing here, unarmed like that? Do you know how dangerous this place is?" Rai simply shook his head, he'd never been here before. The patrol leader sighed.
"At least come to the village, so we can protect you. Don't want another beheading." He said matter-of-factly, emphasizing the last part. Rai nodded his thanks and started walking with the villagers, no emotion playing on his face, no words spoken.
He noticed a girl walking beside him was trembling. Rai put his hand gently against her back, to which she jerked her head back to look at him in surprise. She smiled, grateful, but pointed to the woods desperately.
Rai felt it too. The hostile energy coming from that neck of the woods was almost chilling. He put his free hand on the patrol leader's shoulder, to which the whole patrol stopped. Rai simply nodded to the suspicious neck of the woods, to which the girl nodded.
"S-sir? We think there's something evil in those trees." The girl trembled, and Rai put his hand a bit more firmly against her back and nodded to her as if saying it was all going to be okay without speaking. He hadn't spoken a word, nor had he almost ever.
Then all hell broke loose. A huge, mammoth-like beast leapt towards them, and everyone ran. Except for Rai.
"Come on!" The girl yelled, screaming as its claws scraped against her, leaving marks.
That was all Raizil needed. He grit his teeth and pounced, the folds of his cape fluttering freely in the wind.
