Everything is based on time. You eat at the same time every day. You shower, learn, sleep, everything! It's because of the 'great' Vladimir Blade, that its like that. He's an immortal. All because he found a "one of a kind" golden apple and for some reason ate it. Now there's been the talk of another, but that's for later. The 'Love Clock' was his discovery. It started with thousands of people waking on a ship and the very first one was him. They all had a digital watch that explained what everything was, except its self. So when he met his first true love he figured that was what the clock meant, both of their clocks had gone off simultaneously. Notice how I say first, well it's kinda hard to keep your spouse around when you're immortal and their not. So as soon as his wife dies, yeah always wife, he awaits his next one. They're always unknown until they met Vlad.
10 minutes. That how many minutes were left on my clock. It read the same info as usual; my age:18, my race: second-generation Russian, the time: 8:42 a.m, how much time was left before I met my soulmate and my first and last name: Audrey Osborne.
I was standing with my friend, Mouse. At least that's what I called him. His actual name was Katsumi Hamada.
I kind of wished it was him, that ended up being my soulmate. He was so patient and calm, but lovable and sweet. The perfect guy, but we couldn't see each other's time clocks. They were invisible to anyone except the wearer. So I had no idea if he and I were destined to be or not. We're forbidden to talk about anything on them.
He was helping me stay calm through the crowd, my claustrophobia was off the charts. We were about to enter an assembly because Vladimir Blade was on his way to our school. I checked my clock as I did regularly, but unlike every other day, it now had five minutes left. I panicked again. My anxiety surged. The hyperventilating started and Mouse shifted beside me.
"Are you ok, 最愛の?" His voice was thick with worry. He had used his special name for me, but he'd never told me what it meant. My panic attack calmed slightly with his voice.
"I'm fine, самый дорогой" I used his nickname. I took deep breaths while he whispered to me, telling me I was fine. His Japanese accent was very thick, it only got like that when he was really afraid. I never had an accent since my parents and I had moved to America when I was 4. That's the year I met Katsumi, and also the year he and I started kindergarten. Happy memories.
I checked my clock again, 27 seconds. The students started to move forward, into the gymnasium. I wasn't paying attention when I was walking, I was lost in my thoughts. "Hey, watch out!" Mouse whisper shouted. It was too late. I tripped and began my shortfall to the earth, like a clumsy tree."Whoa, careful there" a deep, husky voice came from a strong stranger. Right then, in the arms of this strange man who had just caught me, my clock went off.
