Brave over fear

chapter 1

Robin. You know him as the leader of the teen titans. You know him as strong, helpful, smart, kind, and brave. You may even know him as the bravest person you know. But, to be honest, he's not. Most people see him as the bravest. But, they're wrong. He may seem the bravest on the outside, but there's more fear than you can count on the inside. You can't believe everything that you see on the outside. It's the inside that really counts. The inside that tells the whole truth. The inside that tells you how many fears that this brave leader has. What's behind the mask. Yes, you may think the same about Raven. She also seems brave. But let me tell you, she's not afraid to show her fears. That's why this story is about Robin. How he got through life successful. How? Well, I'll tell you. You're probably wondering, what is the key to a successful life? Well, let's just say we're not there yet. But, I WILL tell you this, it all began in a really dark city. Gotham City to be exact. At the circus, a LONG time ago. Some of you may already know this story. The story of how this young, little, boy became Robin. How he lost his parents at a very young age. How the famous Bruce Wayne took him in as his own. How Richard Grayson found out that Bruce Wayne was Batman. How he became Robin and worked alongside him. How he grew older as a teenager and ran away. Ran away into Jump City. Yeah yeah, I'm sure we ALL know how the story continues from there. Now, a 17 year old boy is sitting on his bed at Titans tower, in his room. Now, I would LOVE to tell you more, but this certain boy has his OWN story to tell as he takes it from here.
Titans tower; 9:30 pm; Robin's P O V:
So, as the narrator said, I'm in my room, sitting on my bed. Not just sitting there, but also looking at a picture. A picture of me and Bruce. I sigh. How I've always wanted to be JUST like him. I then flashback to when I told him I wanted to be like him. I was younger then.
Flashback:
Gotham City; Wayne manner:
It was late at night when young Richard Grayson came down the stairs. He was ten at the time. Bruce, seeing this, sighed. "Richard, what are you doing up? It's way past your bed time" He said. Richard shrugged. "I don't know. I just couldn't fall asleep" He said. Bruce sighed again. He then walked up to him and picked him up. "Why couldn't you fall asleep?" He asked. Richard shrugged again. "I was just thinking" He said. "About?" Bruce asked. Richard looked down. "About how you're so brave and I'm not. I want to be brave too!" Richard said as he looked back up at Bruce. Bruce then smiled. "Richard, it takes a lot to be brave. Even I'M not that brave. But you know what? You are! You're the bravest person I know. You're not afraid to do anything. But just because I say this, doesn't mean you can go and try to do stuff on your own" Bruce said as he noticed the smile on Richard's face. Richard frowned. "But, I wanna be JUST like you! How do I?" He asked. Bruce sighed once again. "Well, you can't really be like me. Everyone is different. But if you want to be brave, then always remember this, the key to be brave is to always do your best and don't push yourself too far. But if you want a challenge, then go ahead, challenge yourself. But don't try to do anything stupid. That's not brave. Actually, brave is standing up for others and trying your best. It's not all about not having fear. Because trust me, EVERYONE has fear. Everyone is afraid of something. And most importantly, everyone is brave. It may not be today. It may not be tomorrow or the next day. It may not be the end of this week! But believe me, you WILL find your bravery. You WILL show the world how brave you are. You just have to believe. Have faith. And wait" Bruce explained. Richard smiled. "Thanks dad" He says.
End flashback:
Yup! That was me! And I'll never forget what he told me that day.
End P O V:
Just then, the alarm went off. Robin sighed before getting up and walking out his room. Who's dumb enough to make crime at this late at night? Robin thought as he walked to the living room.
