CHAPTER ONE
MR. MYSTERY

IIDA STOOD BEFORE THE MIRROR, his reflection staring back at him, anxiety etched into every inch of his face. His nervous habit of biting his fingernails betrayed the whirlwind of thoughts racing through his mind. The weight of his decision hung heavily upon him as he contemplated what he was about to do. "I hope this works," he muttered, his voice barely a whisper as he spoke to his reflection. Doubt crept into his words, laced with uncertainty. "Could she truly have romantic interest in someone like me?"

His gaze shifted to his attire. The classic ensemble of blue and white striped pajamas adorned his frame, a symbol of formality even in the comfort of his own home. The white fuzzy slippers completed the picture, adding an air of elegance to his every step. It was a style befitting a young man raised in a wealthy and illustrious family of heroes. From the outside, one could easily assume his life was perfect—a seamless blend of privilege and success. But Iida knew better. He understood the facade that hid his insecurities, the doubts that plagued him even in his pursuit of greatness. No one, and no life, could ever be flawless.

As he glanced at the collection of cherished photographs adorning the bulletin board above his desk, memories flooded his mind, each one representing a fleeting moment frozen in time. Each image invoked a cherished memory, a testament to the bonds he had formed and the experiences that had shaped him. Yet, amidst the warmth of those memories, a pang of sadness gripped him. The truth was that he hadn't always been surrounded by friends and companions. In his formative years, his older brother had been his sole confidant, his only friend.

A somber whisper escaped his lips as he confided in the reflection before him. "She probably thinks I'm nothing more than a strict, uptight know-it-all." His voice carried a tinge of sorrow, a reflection of the self-doubt that plagued him. He let out a long, exaggerated sigh, the weight of his insecurities bearing down on him.

His mind swirled with doubts and second thoughts, threatening to overshadow his resolve. He refused to give up entirely before even taking a chance, but a hint of discouragement lingered in the depths of his heart. It was a delicate balance between hope and fear, teetering on the precipice of his vulnerability. In the face of uncertainty, he steeled his resolve, determined to rise above his insecurities and pursue the possibility of something more, even if it meant navigating uncharted territory. "Let me text Uraraka and Midoriya...they'll know what to do."
