was it love at first sight?
~

"Are you almost ready, it's been 2 hours," I hear my best friend nagging at me to pick up the pace.
"Yes, I'm getting there!" I snap back because of the number of times she's asked. I haven't gone out in what seems like years, so I wanted to look my best. I sweep the brush over my left cheek with pigmented pale pink highlighter, and walk out of the bathroom.

"Well?" I ask my best friend for her opinion.

"Flawless." I shoot her a wink and we start to head out. We plan to have the night of our lives, just graduating from high school and all. We desperately are trying to not stress about college and overall becoming an adult. What better way to do that then to get drunk off our ass and regret it the next morning? We walk to her car with our heels clunking behind us. Once she starts her car, I turn on the radio to get a bit hyped before the party.

When we arrived, we were welcomed by one other best friend.

"What took you guys so long?" She asked.

"Y/n locked herself in the bathroom for 2 hours, between you and me, I think she's trying to get laid." My other friend exclaimed.

"I can hear you, just thought I should mention that." I said a little aggravated because I was not in fact, trying to get laid. That was the last thing I wanted. We all started to laugh it off though and started to head inside. I had two main best friends, Emma and Mila. They've stuck with me since the beginning of high school, and with us all going our separate ways, I was both happy for them yet sad to see them go. I still hoped to stay in touch, but that doesn't seem to work out how we like.

As soon as we set foot in the gorgeous house that would soon be ruined, a boy came up to Mila and began talking to her. Mila was a magnet that only attracted popular pretty boys who were rich, but the guy who walked up to her was different. He seemed to be lower class, but still was presentable and cleaned up well. After a couple of minutes, Mila motioned us to follow her and her new boy toy. We walked down the hall towards a couple who seemed inseparable and really had a PDA (public display of affection) problem. I followed behind all of them in the back, a bit nervous to be greeted by new people. I've always been a little hesitant in meeting new people, but I was at a party and thought I'd never see them again so what's the problem? We soon formed into a small circle of six people, when Mila finally introduced us to the new boy.

"This is Harrison, and Harrison this is Emma and y/n." We exchanged handshakes and smiles.

"Girls, I'd like you to meet Olivia and my man Tom." Emma and Mila eagerly introduced themselves, but all I could focus on was the boy staring at me. He seemed to be looking at me more than anyone else in the group, which made my heart skip a beat and my knees feel weak.

"Hi, I'm y/n." I introduced with a wide smile.

Olivia returned the smile where as Tom looked at me as if he was trying to figure me out. He was on the shorter side, but had a muscular build, brown hair, and dark eyes. He was a very attractive person, no lie, but his eyes were glued on me which made me very anxious. Olivia whispered something in Tom's ear then stood up and walked away. Emma, Mila, and Harrison walked away as well to dance, leaving Tom and I alone.

"Having a good time?" Finally words exited his mouth.

"For the most part, you?"

"Well I'm driving, so I'm not having that kind of fun," He grinned at me and I began to laugh. He never broke his gaze with me but he seemed to be looking at me in awe. We talked for about twenty minutes about college plans, music, and all sorts of different things. He was very easy to talk to, and I enjoyed the nice conversation. Then Olivia walked up behind Tom and planted a kiss on his cheek. Tom turned around and pulled her closer for a tight hug.

"Okay, I'm gonna try finding my friends. Good talk!" I said trying to avoid the uncomfortable situation.

"Wait! Will I see you again? I really enjoyed talking to you." His eyes lit up at the sight of me walking away.

I grabbed a random pen that was on one of the tables, grabbed his hand, and wrote my number. His girlfriend looked shocked, but she'd soon realize it was nothing but just making a new friend. He smiled at me and when I turned around again to walk away, I could still feel his eyes on me.

After meeting up with the rest of the group, we had a few more drinks then decided it was a good time to go home. Emma was the designated driver so she had nothing to drink, what a trooper. As soon as I walked in my room I fell flat on my face on the warm bed.

"How was the night for you?" She laughed as I began to doze off.

"It was good. Tom creeped me out, but he was hooooot."

Emma laughed it off until eventually I fell asleep.
