B-e-e-p, B-e-e-p! Her alarm sounded, Honey, a short girl with short dark hair and piercing blue eyes pulled back her covers to her bed, she grabbed her crutches, leaned over her desk and strapped on her knee brace, and hobbled through the hall way.
She sat herself up on the tall chair, with a big grin.
"Why are you so happy Honey?" Her mother asked, her mother was a tall woman with long black hair.
"Jessica is letting me ride her horse Tornado!" Honey replied.
"Oh dear... I don't want you to ride Tornado. I know that horse Honey, he's mean, besides. You could get hurt again!" She shouted. "But Mom! I need this! I miss Carmel! Why can't you just trust me for once?!" She yelled back. "Honey! You're 10! Listen to me!"
"Fine mom. Fine." She frowned, she let a single tear slip down her cheek, she jumped off her chair and hobbled back to her room, looking outside her window, she saw the over grown meadow, with the horse shed and the old water trough. She kept letting the tears flow, starring at the old photos she had of her horse and her in a competition.
Without her knowing, her mother peaked through to her room. "Honey" she said softly.
"Go Away!" She yelled "You've taken everything from me! My horses and my ability to do anything!" She added. She pushed past her mother and hobbled to the back door.
She opened it, looking at the old horse trailer, the pasture and the old shed. She slowly walked over to the fence. Leaning over it, thinking "Carmel where are you? Why did mother do this to us?" She looked back and forth, in the West was another stable with exactly five paint horses surrounding the paddock. "Lucky people" she mumbled.
The horses whinnied and galloped around the paddock until they disappeared behind the stable. In the distance a small brown tri-coloured horse reared at another small horse. They played for what felt like an eternity, Honey, starring at them, she smiled.
"How I would love to meet those horses" she spoke softly.
She turned around, facing the east back to an arena, where she use to ride. Many memories came back to her, her first time clearing a metre, her first dressage test.
"Haha, Halt at X... circle at B, canter at C to K..." she laughed.
"Okay Honey. You win" she heard a voice. She turned around to find her mother.
"You can ride Tornado." She stated
"You mean it?!" Honey asked excitedly.
"Yes" she said walking away.
'Why did she have a change of heart?' She thought to herself.
