I got up, put on my dress and went to the bathroom door.

“Baby I’m not about to do that. And zip this.” I was talking about the zipper in the back of my dress.

He was washing his hands. Seeing his naked body never got old. I don’t care how many times I had seen it. It just does something to me every time.

He dried his hands on a towel, came over to me and grabbed my waist, pressing me against the doorway.

“You know what you can give me?”

“What?” I said softly and looked in his eyes.

“Everything underneath this dress.” He let his hand roam up my thighs underneath my dress, and kissed me.

Our kiss was interrupted by my phone ringing.

“I gotta get that. It might be Christina. She had something she wanted me to do.”

“Christina can wait.” He started taking off my dress at the shoulders.

“August, just let me see who it is. Zip this.”

“Aight, go.” He zipped me quickly and let me go, but not without smacking my behind first.

I looked at the number and contemplated whether I should answer. August had gone back into the bathroom and was washing his face.

I had to make a decision because if I didn’t then he would be suspicious as to why I didn’t answer.

“Hello. Hey Christina.”

“Who’se Christina?” Nate answered.

“I got it. I’ll be there ok. Bye.” I hung up and texted Nate that this was a bad time.

“Who was that babe?” August came into the room brushing his teeth.

“Uh Christina. She was saying she needed me at the office so I’mma go.”

“Aight see you later.” He went back into the bathroom.

I put on my heels then rushed downstairs, got my brief case, hopped in my car and drove up about two blocks. I pulled around the corner and called Nate back.

“What was that about?” He answered.

“Nate, you can’t be calling me. I already got into it with my boyfriend about you.”

“Just hear me out. I first wanted to apologize for doing that. I was totally wrong, I was acting on impulse and I hope that you forgive me.”

“It’s water under the bridge. I gotta go.”

“Hold on, I’m not done. The first lady was so enthralled with your speech, she’s coming in town for a benefit and wants you to be a keynote speaker.”

“What-the…what?”

He laughed. “Yes her assistant called my father and told him.”

“Oh my God Nate this is huge! Like I’m sitting in my car freaking out right now.”

“When is the benefit?”

“Tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow? I can’t come up with a speech by tomorrow. I don’t even know what I’m supposed to speak about.”

“The benefit is for a young girl’s empowerment organization. You just write something about what you would tell your younger self about following her dreams.”

“I cannot believe she even remembered me.”

“That speech you gave was pretty memorable though Amber. Come on. The President even stood up.”

“He does that for everybody I’m sure.”

“I highly doubt it.”

There was a moment of silence.

“How are you doing?”

“Better. I got a nurse and she’s been helping me.”

“Still no parents?”

“No. The first time my dad called me was to relay that message to you.”

“Nate I don’t want to totally abandon you. I still want to be your friend. Just respect my relationship, otherwise I can’t.”

“I respect that.”

“Are you coming to the benefit?”

“Yeah. She gave us three tickets so you can invite your boyfriend.”

This is gonna be a recipe for disaster.
