The Island

When you think you've healed from the past that you agreed to, you only find yourself re-injured by the memory of the past.

Forgiveness doesn't mean forgetting, and forgiveness is a gift enough.

The scarlet letter you carry is one you carry alone with the shame you feel for staying and for , in a sense, conceding to what was done, knowing that you were once that person who would not allow someone you loved to stay.

I want to say that the island is connected to the mainland, but the more the island is destroyed from the inside out, the easier it is for a storm to sweep it further and further away.

The foundation of the island has crumbled, and the only thing left for others to see are the palm trees that stand tall, the only reminder of the survivor that would have never gone down so easily in the fight.
