I gaze upon her face day after day.
Her eyes are filled with pain and sorrow
A caged bird that wants to fly away
She knows not of the wills of tomorrow.
As she gazes up at the clear, blue sky
Knowing she cannot be like the others
She dreams to be free and fly way up high,
And dreams to fly higher than the others.
Her lovely blue eyes are full of sadness,
And of longing to be freed of the bars.
She wishes to have back her carelessness
That she had before caged behind bars.
Caged bird I have a question for thee:
For what about thee makes you look like me?
