"Soft, incessant beeping. Would it stop?"

"She wished that she could sleep."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Adari groaned, looking at her ceiling, then over at her clock that beeped softly. 10 minutes after midnight. She closed her eyes, turning away from the clock, laying on her side in bed. How could she forget to take her sleep meds? Now her insomnia was kicking in again. Pushing herself out of bed, Adari went downstairs, not minding the darkness.

"Insomnia kicked in again?" A voice mocked her, echoing softly from the living room. Adari rolled her eyes.

"Yes, Jagi. It is."

"Oh, come now...you're no fun, using my whole name. How'd you forget them this time?"

"Not sure. And don't really care." Adari opened the fridge, grabbing the first thing she saw. Jagi purred, wrapping his arms around her.

"You could just ask me to remind you..." He reminded her gently, a soft whisper.

"But do I want to? No. Also, you never show up until midnight, so that's useless."

Jagi bit his bottom lip, knowing it true. He did only come after midnight. "Well..."

Adari shoved him away, sleepily drinking the jug of milk. She honestly liked him, but nothing seemed to...click. And besides, she was already with another, and couldn't deal with this because of her job.

"I'm going." Adari tossed the empty milk jug towards Jagi, and slips out the door, grabbing her bag and walking off. "See ya."

"I...okay, bye." Jagi threw the milk jug away, narrowing his eyes before going down to the living room again and disappearing.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Grinning, Adari leaped into the forest, dropping off her bag and running deeper in. She dove into a cave, and came bursting back out as a giant dragon, light magenta fur with dark magenta scales on her underside, wings feathered and spread wide as she launches into the air, breathing fire with joy.

She dove down, through the trees, and slammed into a clearing, setting down and folding her wings up onto her back. Adari shook like a dog, getting the twigs and leaves off her back, then turned around.

There stood someone, with a small stature, and blonde hair up in a ponytail, revealing their unusual elf-like ears. Adari smiles and changes back to her human form, tackling the elf with excitement. "Ite!"

"Hey, calm down, Adari...missed you too. Why so early?" The elf, Ite, hugged Adari close and hummed gently.

"...forgot my medicine..."

"Hey, look at me." Ite tilted Adari's chin up, looking into the other's eyes. "You did a lot better this time. A whole month of remembering."

"Yeah...guess that's true. I can try for two months." Adari muttered, looking down at the ground.

"That's a good goal. I believe in you, Adari." Ite whispered, cuddling Adari close to her. Adari just hummed quietly, letting Ite cuddle her. Ite sighed gently and tangled a hand through Adari's hair gently.

"...what now?" Adari asked, not noticing the third presence with them.

"Well, first..." Ite pulled the bow off her back, aiming into the bushes and shooting, a dark figure running off. "Get rid of that thing."

"Then, I guess we take a walk." Ite continues, taking Adari's hand. Adari just nodded in return, smiling at Ite.

"Thank you, Ite." Adari murmured, content with this. She earned a small smile back from Ite, and the two walked through the forest together.

After a while, behind them, a small bird fluttered out of the bushes, watching the two. It tilted its head, then chirped softly, and a deep black wolf padded out of the bushes, growling, watching Ite and Adari closely. It watched for a few minutes, then scampered quickly back into the bushes, the bird following quickly.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hours later, Adari was back as a dragon and Ite riding on her back. And then, he had the whole gall to try and flirt with me!

Ite chuckled and sighed. "He probably likes you."

Yeah, and I like him, but not...enough? It's hard to say. Adari glided through the air, her thoughts speaking to Ite instead of herself.

"You'll work it out, Ari. You just need time, right?" Ite rolled over, laying on her stomach on Adari's back.

Don't call me Ari, you know I hate it...and yeah, I need to work it out.Adari let herself descend closer to the ground, grabbing up a deer with her talons and eating it whole.

"I'll call you what I want."

I hate you.

"Love you too, Ari~" Ite giggled and rubbed her face into Adari's fur. "You're so soft, Ari-bear~"

Stop this please oh my god. I'm getting flustered, Ite.

"I think that's good..."

I will drop you. Adari growled, actually serious.

"Wait, please don't!" Ite laughed, and nearly fell off on her own. "I'm joking with you, Adari!"

Yeah right. You gay as hell demon-elf cross. Adari dove down, landing back in the clearing and letting Ite off her back before changing to be human again.

"No offense taken." Ite waved at her and walked away. "See you later, Ari-bear~"

"I still hate you." Adari turned and left, smiling to herself when Ite couldn't see. She looked at the sky, then thought. She just thought. And then, she remembered. And smiled. She walked back home happy.
