Cutler Beckett POV

I stood, watching her from afar, her light brown hair blowing behind her as the cool wind hit her face. I looked out at the horizon, the sun slowly going down. I walked onto the balcony, went up behind her and whispered in her ear, "Boo...." She jumped and turned around, scowling at me while I smiled at her like an idiot. "You have got to stop doing that!" Catherine whisper-yelled at me, shoving my chest in the process and turning to face the horizon once again with her arms crossed. I chuckled and put my chin on her shoulder wrapping my arms around her. "Cutler... What are you doing?!" Catherine asked me, her face turning red. "Watching the sunset with you." I replied, still staring out at sea. She sighed and said, "You're so clingy." I laughed softly, content with what I have accomplished. "You know that Hayden is looking, right?" She mused and pointed towards her best friend, who stood on the dock, glaring at me with the biggest frown I've ever seen, and shaking her head. I got an idea, a very bad one, but I spun Catherine around and kissed her on the lips, smirking into the kiss. Hayden started yelling at me like someone was murdered and started running to me and Catherine. I pulled away, smirking at Catherine, her face beet red as she slowly said, "RUN." Right then, Hayden burst through the doors and started chasing me. She didn't care if I was a Lord, she wanted to murder me. Catherine stood there, laughing her head off as Hayden took off her shoe and started beating me. I shielded myself from the shoe beating as Hayden yelled at me. The rest of the night, Catherine had to tend to my wounds and fix my hat, it was ripped when Hayden beat me. Catherine finally saved me after Hayden said she would rip my wig off my head. I had bruises for days after the incident. It was about a month after my bad idea that the ship got attacked by pirates. I wanted Catherine to stay inside with Hayden, but she betrayed my orders. She started fighting the pirates, her sword clashing with others. She was busy fighting another pirate when the captain of the pirates, known as Eanore Cabitn, swung his sword at her, but it never even grazed her flesh. She finished the other pirate off and looked behind her, to see Hayden, with a sword sticking through the other side of her. Hayden fell to the ground, Catherine cried out to Hayden but there was no response. Eanore sliced at Catherine, a huge gash created in her left arm, blood spilling. I cried out to Catherine, my eyes wide. Eanore called out to his fellow pirates to fall back, all of them swinging on the ropes back onto their ship. Once they were gone and their ship was at least a mile away I ran to Catherine, she stood and looked down at Hayden. "Catherine, I..." I couldn't finish my sentence as she turned, hid her face in the crook of my neck and clung onto my jacket, her tears soaking my neck and shirt. I put my arms around her and closed my eyes, her unsteady breath on my neck as I comforted her, my heart breaking under the sound of the sobs racking her body. Later that night I was sitting on her bed, her head in my lap, sometimes wincing if something touching her injured arm. "Will you stay with me tonight?" She asked me, her hopeful, emerald green eyes shining in the candlelight. "Of course, dear." I answered, kissing her forehead. "Will you always be here for me?" She asked, completely breaking my heart, her voice still hoarse from crying so much. "I will always be here for you." I said, my voice cracking as my eyes teared up. I went to sleep holding Catherine, exhausted from the battle. "Goodnight, Catherine." I whispered. "I love you, too." She said, her head foggy from sleep, but it warmed my heart to hear that.
