Bruised
Bruised, scarred and battered, I was lead into a dungeon. My sleek, long, and black hair was past my waist, and my emerald eyes held a look of longing. The scar on my right eye had faded mostly, but the memories of the murderous robbers entering the castle had yet to fade. Now, I was no princess. All I had was a once beautiful aqua colored dress, that was now torn and caked in dust and dried blood. Ropes bound my feet. "Move!" a man with untamed hair and a scraggly beard bellowed from behind me, pushing me forward with a steel rod. I winced as it came in contact with my open wounds, but I was still determined to make my escape. A familiar warmth filled my body, and sparks ignited, pulsing and hovering above my palms.
A raspy, low voice echoed off of the prison walls. "Adeline. Stop struggling. Give up. King Griffin is a powerful man, having conquered half of the kingdoms, including Atani, your homeland." I gritted my teeth, seething. "Is that a challenge?" I inquired of him, words dripping with venom. Sparks hovered above my palms again, growing progressively larger until they became spheres of danger. "What?" the man breathed, taken aback, eyes filled with terror. I flashed a quick smile, allowing a fiery ball to float to his face, illuminating it. "Hello to you too, sir."
Allowing my façade to fade, I stared daggers at him. "Either you help me escape, or you go blind. Your choice. And, one last thing. Buy me a fresh gown, and bring back my diamond necklace from the king's treasury. How do you know my name, may I ask?"
The man smirked, clicking his tongue. As he continued to stare, a flicker of fear was in my eyes. It was gone as fast as it came, replaced by determination and fierceness. I asked again, but with more authority. "How do you know my name, sir?"
He chuckled, his dark laugh echoing through for dungeon. "I'll tell you something, Adeline. My name is Philip." Everything went black.
I woke up to an excruciating headache. I stood with great difficulty, planting my feet firmly in the ground. "Well, Philip. A Magic-Wielder is who you're up against." He sneered, pulling out a small knife. "This, Adeline, used to be my great, great, grandfather's. Magic-Wielders were useless near this. Let's see if you can handle it."
"I'm more than ready, Philip. It's going to be easy to kill you." He pointed the knife in my direction, blue light protruding from its tip. Blue clashed against red, and I began to grow weaker. I groaned from the blunt force, but managed to keep my footing. "Fogo Soltar!" I had unleashed the full extent of my powers. Hopefully that would be enough. I wanted to be rid of that monster. Philip tried to stand, only to fall on his knees. "You? Bowing to me? Isn't that a surprise!" I said mocking him. I ran out of the dungeon, free at last. I wished that my family could have witnessed my triumph. That tyrant King Griffin had killed the only people that I could ever love. I made a vow that when I dethrone him, I would reign in justice. For the unjust, I would have no pity.
