"Sure, I'll be over shortly! 🏃🏻‍♀️" She texted back.

"Sweet the door will be unlocked so just come on in when you get here." I replied as I walked over to the front door to unlock it.

"Kk 😝👍🏽" She said. I slipped on my all black converses and sprinted back up the stairs.

I didn't plan on telling my mom or Ethan where I was going because they didn't believe me or anything I had told them about Dema.

I was going to tell Rowan though because she told me she believed me and I was hoping she would lie for me so that they wouldn't suspect anything.

My plan was that I would get her to convince them that I'm going to be staying with her for a little because I'm tired of being trapped in the house or something like that.

I plopped on my bed and waited for her to get here. I was just on my phone watching a Shane Dawson conspiracy theory video on YouTube when the door to my room opened revealing my best friend.

"Hey!" I smiled as I stood up to hug her.

"Hey girl, what's the big news?" She excitedly asked.

"Okay so.." I clapped my hands together excited to tell her the good news.

"I found Ryan, the one who got out of Dema just like me. He's flying here to come and meet me and we're going to figure out a way to get back to Dema to save our friends and everyone else!" I exclaimed.

Rowan frowned looking unimpressed by what I had just told her.

"This is a good thing.. You can smile or at least say something.." I awkwardly laughed.

"You've gotta be fucking kidding me." She said under her breath, but I still heard.

"Is something wrong?" I nervously questioned. I was confused as to what her issue was.

"You're sounding like a crazy person, Eden. Really? Dema? You're just going to go to some made up place with some made up person to save some made up people from a made up virus?" She scoffed, shaking her head.

My jaw dropped. Where was all of this coming from?

"What do you mean? I told you everything that happened.. you said you believed me.." I shook my head confused.

"Obviously I don't! You were on drugs, all of that bullshit you keep talking about is made up. I was told by your mom to not set you off or you might find a way to relapse so I just went along with everything you were saying.. but now you're actually talking about meeting up with someone.. someone who doesn't even exist? No, you're out of your mind." She hissed.

Angry tears began to fill my eyes. Even my best friend didn't believe me.

I reached down and picked up my bag from off the ground, putting it on my back.

"I should've known." I spat, as I began to walk past her.

"Where do you think you're going?" She growled, standing in my way of the door.

"To do what I said I was going to do, you gonna try and stop me?" I glared with my fists now balled up.

"As a matter of fact, I am." She said not moving.

I stepped closer to her, getting right in her face.
"Get. Out. Of. My. Way." I said slowly but dangerously.

"So what if I don't, you're gonna fight me? I've been your best friend since the 5th grade." She said trying to talk me down.

"You're trying to stop me from saving the people who are like family to me." I stated.

"I am like family to you!" She said raising her voice once again.

"Not if you don't get the hell out of my way." I threatened.

She surprisingly stepped aside and I quickly walked out of the room.

She immediately yelled out for my mom and brother, ratting me out.

I sprinted down the stairs trying to get the best head start possible.

I knew I was about to be chased down thanks to her.

I heard them all screaming after me as I swung the front door open and bolted out of the house.

I ran faster than I ever had in my life down the street as Ethan yelled at me, hot on my tail.

"Fuck off!" I screamed with the little breath I had left as I continued running.

I turned a quick corner and took a short cut, throwing my brother off for a second, giving him and I a better distance apart.

He was persistent though, and I knew he would never stop.

As I continued running down the street like a maniac, I saw a unoccupied taxi cab.

I ran towards it with my arm waving hoping to grab the drivers attention.

I quickly jumped in the passengers seat and blurted out where he needed to take me.

"I need to get to the airport ASAP." I said completely out of breath.

The driver got the memo, probably thinking I was running late for a flight, as he stepped on the gas.

We began driving away and I looked in the rear view mirror at my brother who I had just left behind.

I pulled out my phone and texted Ryan. "Hey you didn't book your flight to Atlanta yet did you?"

"No, I was just about to, I should be there at like 4 pm. 🙂 " He texted back almost instantly.

"Okay good, forget about it. I'm coming to you! I almost got caught and I'm in a cab headed towards the airport right now." I texted back with shaky fingers.

"Oh shit, okay I'll pick you up from LAX then! Let me know when you arrive. 🛬" He responded.

I put my phone back in my pocket and rested my head back onto the seat, trying to calm myself down.
