From the moment Gwen was born, she was destined to be a witch. Born to a long line of witches, Gwen's family was well known. Her mother, Selma, believed that their family was more powerful than the rest due to their untainted bloodline. Not one witch in the Tanaka family had mixed with mortals. Until today.
The Tanaka family originated from Japan, where black magic was said to be practiced the most. Gwen's mother, Selma, was especially gifted in occult. Apart from her and her mother, Gwen had one other relative she knew of, her aunty, Vera. When Gwen was just a year old, all of the Tanaka bloodline started to disappear. Everyone was dying, including her own father, Aki. Her grandmother said it was disease, but soon rumors started that Selma and her mother-in-law were practicing voodoo, sacrificing souls. So Selma took her daughter and went to America, leaving behind their past life, with the death of Gwen's grandmother. She never saw her aunty again.
Gwen glanced in the mirror as she slipped on her dress. It was a gorgeous white silk gown, embroidered with lace, handed down from generation to generation. She was about to get married. She could hardly keep the smile off her face. She finally going to be with the man of her dreams, despite what her mother thought. Tom was a mortal, but he knew about Gwen's past. He knew that she was technically a Japanese witch, but he didn't care. He knew that she didn't do that kinda magic stuff like her family did. He didn't believe in it.
Selma did not approve of the marriage. Her daughter was only 17 years old, too young for a boyfriend let alone marriage. And to a mortal!? She would bring shame to the family. But she already did the day she refused to accept who she was and turn to the human life. Disgraceful. Why would she want to live a mortal life when she can be a witch? Selma knee she had to do something to convert her daughter fast, before it was too late.
Gwen gazed into Toms deep blue eyes as she made her way to the alter. Her mother would not be present at the wedding, and definitely not at a Christian church. But Gwen didn't care. It was finally happening. She was going to have her happily ever after.
Suddenly, the church door slammed open, a great gust of wind rippling through the church. There was a huge whirlwind, and then she saw it. A huge mass of people all in black cloaks, storming towards her, ruining her wedding. She screamed.
At the front of the group was her mother, dressed in black, leading the group of people. But she wasn't alone. Beside her stood a figure, dressed in a long black cloak, with a tall, toned body. He had jet black hair, shoulder length, which was slicked back in a handsome way. He carried a long walking stick, with a rabbit carved in the handle. Suddenly he stopped walking, and tapped his stick on the ground twice. Everyone came to a still. She noticed his long, claw like finger nails tap the head of his walking stick, before looking up. He had a sharp nose and high cheekbones, in his late 40s. He gave her a penetrating stare with his deep green eyes, looking her up and down, before continuing.
"I am Father Blackwood, High Priest if the Church of Night. I've heard many things about you Gwen. Now are you going to follow me, or will I have to take you by force?"
