Gerrick ollivander stood just outside the wards that were placed on the grounds around the prestigious school that so many great wizards had been taught at. Now yes the were some that were wonderfully heroic and willing to protect anyone that they could even at great cost to there own lives. And yes there were those that went down the darker path.
Ollivander stood there for sometime thinking about his time at hogwarts. About the countless people that he had went to school with. Then started thinking about the countless numbers that had come to this prestigious instatution to get there magically learning, and had enter his shop to buy their first wand. This thought snapped him back into reality, and reminded him why he was here.
"I must do what I can to try, and find someone who shows great promise in the art of wandlore. I am going to have to find someone soon or my families business will end up no more." Ollivander thought to himself. And with that he start the walk up to the school.
As he walked he was examining his surroundings looking for signs of anyone who was around. About ten minutes passed and he finally made it to the school. He reached up to place his hand on the door when he heard a very familiar voice. It was none other then Rubeus hagrid.
"Mr. Ollivander? To what do we owe this visit?" Hagrid asked him politely. Ollivander chuckled to himself, and thought to himself. "Always the gentle, and polite half-giant." Ollivander reached out his hand to shake hagrid's hand. "Uh, hagrid how are you? I came here tonight to speak with albus. I have something of great importance to talk to him about." Ollivander explained
Hagrid nodded and explained. "Professor Dumbledore is in his office. If you would like I can walk with you to his office." Ollivander shook his head at hagrid. "No need for that hagrid. I wouldn't want you to buried your duties to escort my to the headmaster. I dare say I know where I am going." Ollivander stated and chuckled when hagrid looked a little down about his reasoning.
"Ok then Mr. Ollivander maybe I'll see you later on." Hagrid said. With that ollivander turned, and started the walk to dumbledore's office. As he walked ollivander contemplated how he wanted to go about asking Dumbledore about start a new course. He knew he couldn't with hold anything from the headmaster. Anyone who knows Dumbledore or has been in his presence has gotten the feeling that Dumbledore knew when you were with holding the truth even if he didn't say anything to give you that notice. You could just tell by his all knowing look that he gave you. As he came to a stop in front of the gargoyle that stood in front of the spiral staircase that lead up to the headmaster's office he decided to be completely honest with Dumbledore with what his plans were. But the was one problem he didnt know the password to get up the staircase.
"Mr. Ollivander......i almost forgot...the password....is....lemon drop." Hagrid came running down the hall slightly out of breath trying to catch up. Ollivander looked surprised to see him, but greatful all the same. He had thought that hagrid had went on his way to do whatever duties he had to attend to. "Thank you Rubeus I should have asked, but I have much on my mind I wasnt thinking." Ollivander chuckled to himself.
Hagrid nodded, and turned to walk away. Ollivander turned back to the gargoyle Which he hadn't realized lept aside when hagrid said the password. He stepped onto the staircase, and climbed the stairs to the door of dumbledore's office. He knocked when he reached the door. "You may come in." Was the response by the all to familiar voice.
Ollivander opened the door, and walked into the office. Dumbledore was sitting at his desk looking at some papers he had on his desk.
"Ah...gerrick to what do I owe this pleasure?" Dumbledore asked with a smile. Ollivander offered his hand to the aging man. "Albus I came to ask a favor of you. One that I am hoping that you will be happy to agree to. I came to ask to start a new class here at Hogwarts." Albus nodded as he heard this explanation. "What is the class that you wish to start?" Dumbledore asked with his familiar x-ray like look.
Ollivander pondered how to start. He was silent for a moment trying figure it out, and decide just to explain his thoughts. "As you well know I am a wandmaker. I wish to teach the art of wandlore to those students you show an interest in the subject. Now what I wish to do is make it an elective course something that someone can choice to take istead of having to take it." Ollivander began explaining. "Not only will this help wandmaking in general, but it will help me in finding an heir to take over my families business. As you well know I do not have any children of my own to pass my knowledge on to. So what better way to kill to birds with one stone. Pass on my knowledge to future wandmakers as well as find an heir."
Dumbledore sat silent for a while thinking about what ollivander just explained to him. "So if I agree to this request what would you use as your textbook? When would you like to start?" Dumbledore asked. Ollivander smiled knowing with these questions that he was close to getting his request accepted. "Well as far as the course textbook I'll make copies of my personal notes for one, and I have been contemplating on that myself." Ollivander explained. "As far as the text book that I'll assign. I am going use all magical creatures and trees of the 20th century by ollivander Kaine." Ollivander explained with out missing a beat.
Dumbledore nodded his head as he sat in thought. Dumbledore cleared his throat, and began. "I completely understand what you are wanting to do. However you have to understand that it is going to be hard to start this new course with the start of term fast approaching. But I will make the necessary arrangements. Now since we have that underway. One more question I have for you will you be providing the wand wood, and cores as well. Or will I have to put it down on the list of equipment that the people who wish to take this course will have to purchase?"
Ollivander didnt place much thought into the fact of the equipment. But he was going to figure that out. "We will have the students purchase the equipment that is needed. But to make sure that the cores and wand wood they purchase does not lose any of it's potentness they will require a case that has an extension place on it so they have the room for the wand wood and cores."
Dumbledore nodded and thought a moment before answering. "Well what we will do is we will put the equipment down on all the new hogwarts letters for anyone from second year on. We will put it in that anyone who does not wish to take the class that we ask for them to turn the wand wood, and cores over to you. Or if they wish to they can give there equipment to a friend of theirs who may be taking the course."
Ollivander smiled at Dumbledore, and nodded. "Thank you headmaster this is going to be a wonderful year that I can not wait to get underway as soon as possible." Dumbledore smiled back and nodded in agreement. Dumbledore stood up shook ollivander hand, and walked the man to his office door. "I will see you here the day of September first Mr. Ollivander. And I'll be looking forward to seeing, and hearing how well you are teaching the young minds your expertise on wandlore."
With that ollivander took his leave. He walked form the headmaster's office to just outside the castle wards. He turned on the spot and apparated to his shop in diagon alley. As he reappeared he quickly walked to his office in the back of the shop to grab his personal notes. He decided that he was going to make each copy of his notes into a hard covered book for his students. As he was thinking about his notes he decided that he was going to have to order a bunch of covers for his notes. Plus he wanted to make a decent space for the students to add more notes. He wanted to give them a place to add to the notes. He decided to find more cores that could be used in crafting wands so that way he could give his students a more rounded education on wandlore. He himself may only use Phoenix feathers, dragon heartstrings, or unicorn hairs. However that does not mean that his students wont decide to use other cores. Who ever he finds to take over the shop may even take his families wand shoo to even greater fame then what it already was at to this very day.
He walked to the door, and strode out onto the street. He walked down the street heading for gringotts. When ge made his way up to the front doors of gringotts he walked through both sets of door. He walked up to the front desk, and a grumpy looking goblin addressed him. "How can I help you?" Ollivander smiled up at the goblin. "I wish to make a withdrawal from the ollivander vault, please." He explained
"Do you have your key?" The goblin asked. Ollivander reached into his pocket, and pulled out his key. Then handed it over to the goblin
