Jessica's P.O.V
As I was waiting for Erin to pick me up from class so she can take me to my apartment by the campus because she wanted to see me. I got a text from my mom saying " hi honey, I'm so sorry that I have to miss your birthday again I have to work late tonight. We can celebrate tomorrow before I go in again?!" I was really bummed because I never get to see her anymore she's always working and it's really hard on my sister since she still at home and I'm away at school. I go to UCLA I play softball here as a pitcher. I replied back to my mom saying " it's okay I guess I'll see you tomorrow?" " sounds good!" I read before I looked up to see Erin pulling up. "Hey" I told her as I got in giving her a hug" "Hi I am sorry I'm late there was a lot of traffic" "Hey it's fine you were only like 10 minutes late" I told her so she can stop apologizing "knowing I was going to be late I pick you up this" she said giving me the cup of Starbucks " OMG thank you so much!" I said as we drove off. "Do you wanna go home and change so I can take you out for your birthday?" She asked me as I turned my head to look at her " I don't really want to go out for my birthday" " What why?!? Me and Joseph wanted to take you out for dinner" " yea but I was going to spend my birthday with my mom and sister but my mom is working until 3 in the morning again so.. yea" Common Jess it your birthday" " yes but it's also my dads birthday but you know" Jess i know that you miss your dad and what happen to him was just heart breaking but I also know that your dad would have wanted you to have fun on your birthday" " I don't think so I just want to stay home" " are you sure?" " yea I'm sure" "text me if you change your mind?" " okay" I told her as she dropped me off at my place I said bye to her and ran inside because it was surprisingly starting to rain. Once I got inside my clothes were a little damp so I just decided to shower and watch some TV not caring at all what I was going to do today. I got a text from my sister getting out of the shower saying "Hi, am I going to see you today?" I read feeling bad that I really didn't want to see anyone today. I replied saying " no sorry mom said she wasn't going to be home till later, so I'm just going to stay home" " well okay Happy Birthday!! I LOVE YOU! I read my sisters text putting the biggest smile on my face. Putting some comfortable clothes on and turned on the TV putting Spongebob on. I was hopping to watch the dodger game but it was 2pm and the game didn't start till 7:10 so to kill time I just started working on my essay for one of my classes. About 30 minuets later my roommate Jennifer came barging in soaking wet from the rain " Hey!" I told her laughing. " it's not funny but hey she said with small chuckle. "What's in the bag" I asked her as she put the big bag on the floor and the little one on the table " here this is for you HAPPY BIRTHDAY" she screamed in my ear giving my a big hug from the back since I was sitting on the couch. "Aww you didn't have too" I told her as I grabbed the bag from her hands with a smile on both of our faces. " shut up yes I did! Your my bsf there's no way I'm not giving you something on your birthday" she said as she smiled at me as I opened the bag. "NO WAY!! You actually got me this" I said as i saw the gold necklace with my name written in cursive with 2 diamonds on eatch side. My dad had gotten me one when I was little but the chain had broken I don't remember how. " of course I know this reminds you of your dad, that's why I needed to get it for you so you can always carry him around with you" she said as she put the necklace around me with tears starting to run down my face. "Oh and also I'm taking you...to the... DODGER GAME TODAY!" She said with the biggest smile on her face and now on mine" "SHUT UP! Really?!?" I said as I got off the couch and jumped on her giving her the biggest hug " yes, okay so I'm going to drop something off at my moms house so please be ready by 5:40 so we can beat the traffic" she told me as she got her bag and headed out the door " okay Love you!". It was now 5:10 so I started to do my hair and get ready. I decided to just put on a little bit of make up by just adding some mascara, concealer, bronzer and highlighter not wanting to over do it. It had stopped raining so I just put on some black high waisted mom jeans and a dodgers t shirt with my dodger sweater and dodger hat. Jen came through the door at around 5:35 asking if I was ready to go as she went into her room to change her shirt and jacket. Once she was done we headed to the stadium. It was a good thing that we left early because we did end up beating the traffic. It's took us about 20 minuets to get to the stadium which was pretty good. Once we walked in the kind man showed us to our seats. "Hey isn't that your cousin?" "You mean Kike?" "Yea him, aren't you gonna say hi?" " nah, he didn't even text me happy birthday" I said as she looked at me with her eyebrow raised which meant I was acting like a child "don't give me that look, he should have texted me"
"Fine if you won't say hi then I will" "no!" ENRIQUECITO!!!" "Why would you call him that, that's what I call him?" Yea so he knows it you" he turned quickly and saw Jen waving and me just sitting there. He quickly ran over and gave Jen a hug and me " HI PRIMA!!" " he said as I looked at him like really "okay Jess I know your mad that I didn't text you happy birthday or call but who do you think got you these seats?" " wait you got us these seats? I thought Jen got the seats?" "It was all me. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!" He screamed as I gave in and gave him a hug. " look Jess I know today's a hard day for you but it is for me too, he was my tio and I miss him very much" " I know kike I know" I said as tears ran down my face and his eyes getting watery. We both hugged for at least a minute ima half before the manager Dave called him to get back to practice. Once Dave saw me he came over and gave me a hug and a happy birthday. I have know Dave for a while know he was like my tio he has been a big part of my life. Once Dave got back to practice I had seen that Kike was talking to Cody and pointing in my direction.
Cody's P.O.V
I had seen that Kike came back from talking to those to girls by the dugout and his eyes were a little watery. " hey man you okay?" I asked him as he rubbed his eyes " yea man I'm fine just had a little talk with my cousin" he said as he pointed to her who was know whipping tears from her face. "What's your cousins name" " Jessica why?" " just asking" I said not wanting to tell him that I thought his cousin was hot.
Jessica's P.O.V
I was a little confused to have seen Cody Bellinger looking at me but I ignored it. Half way through the game I got a text from my sister saying " if mom asked where I am tell her I'm with Jonah" I replied "okay don't do anything stupid" " I won't promise". I looked back at the field to see that Kike was batting and there was a runner in scoring position I quickly got up Jen along side of me and we both started yelling "VAMANOS ERIQUECITO!!!" Getting weird looks from people around us but we didn't care because we were proud of my cousin. After the game Kike had ran over to me giving me a hug and told me to got wait for him outside the clubhouse I told him that I would so about five minutes after me and Jen got up and went to go wait for Kike. Once he came out he introduced me to some of the rookies and asked me if I wanted to go get dinner with him for my birthday. He had invited Cody, Chris, Corey and Maddy Corey's girlfriend. We decided to eat Buffalo Wild Wings. Getting there it wasn't to packed so we got seated after 5 minuets. I had had so much fun hanging out with the guys I got to know some of them especially Cody me and him were laughing most of the night. Once dinner was over they brought me a little price of cake and they sang to me, I was so happy right now nothing could have changed the way I was feeling. I had also got to know Maddy she was nice and funny, her and Corey really do make the cutest couple. After that I had gotten her number saying that we were going to hang out on Tuesday. Once we were leaving we a said our goodbyes me hugging kike the longest because I had not seen him lately since the season started. Getting in the car the first thing that Jen told me was "OMG you and Cody were so cute!! You guys did not stop laughing the whole night" she said as I blushed a little telling her to stop.
