Rewriting History

"Here are your US history books for this school year," Mr. Smith said handing the text books out to the class. I got mine from his hand and open it to the first page. I read a bit of the title page US history.

"It's going to be an exciting year," I say in a sarcastic tone to my friend Ian that sits behind me. "Settle down class I know these books don't look the most exciting but I promise it's going to be a great year!" excitement bursting through his words.

I roll my eyes.

"Open to page 5 your textbook," he commands to the class

I open my book and I grab my mechanical pencil getting ready to rewrite the words to make this class more interesting. I tune out Mr. Smith and I get to writing. I change a few names of historically famous people for example I change Christopher Columbus name to The Skinny Legend. Immature, I know but what can I say it makes class more a little more fun

"OK class you don't know about The Skinny Legend right?" Mr. Smith asked

I looked up from my textbook in disbelief "What did you say?" I questioned Mr. Smith. I look back down at my textbook. "No way" I thought.

"I said The Skinny Legend. Haven't you heard of him?" he asked making fun of me.

"That's not his name, his name is Christopher Columbus." I replied

"Bro did you not learn about The Skinny Legend in grade school?" Ian asked in a shocked tone.

"No I did not because that's not his name." I mumbled under my breath so no one heard. Mr. Smith went on about the topic I hurry and erase the words I wrote over Christopher Columbus. "In 1642 Columbus sailed the ocean blue," Mr. Smith said trying to get any sort of laugh out of class. I sighed in relief his name is back to Columbus. I looked at the book, amazed with what it can do. So many problems it could fix. Who knows what I can it can do. But if I make any wrong move I could mess up life as we know it.

Later after school I invited Bentley and Ian over to show them the power of the book.

"Dude what's the book you were talking?" Ian asked.

"Yeah i'm confused too." Bentley added.

"OK, so you know our history books." I said

"Yeeeeaaaahhhh," they both said in unison.

"Well the book I was assigned can change history by writing in what I want to have happened." I replied.

"No way dude," Ian said in disbelief.

" I highly doubt it," Bentley said.

"You wanna bet?" I questioned them

"Show me." Ian commanded

I opened to a random page which just so happened to be the page about the Revolutionary War.

"OK so i'm going to change that America won the war because they won a rock, paper, scissors game." I said as I wrote the scene into the book. After I finished I lead them downstairs to ask my parents how America won the revolutionary war.
"Mom how did America win the revolutionary war?" I asked
"Well George Washington beat a British lieutenant with a rock in rock paper scissors." she replied.

We all looked at each other in awe." No way." Bentley said in amazement

"Way." Ian said reassuring her.

We ran back up the stairs to change it back to what it is supposed to be.

" I can't believe that you weren't actually lying about this." Bentley said.

"Why would I lie to you about a magic book. I don't make this crap up in my spare time." I exclaimed.

"What can we do to this book to benefit us?" Ian asked.

"Ian!" Bentley exclaimed.

"What!? " Ian asked

"Why don't we use it to solve world peace or something." Bentley replied.

"Naw lets just use it to our advantage." Ian said with a smirk on his face.

" Ok but we have to be careful with what we do." I said in a very nervous tone.

Bentley and Ian went home and I went up to my room. I stared at the book lying on my bed. What am I going to do with this. mean I could have a little fun with it. I stuffed the book into my backpack and head to bed.

The next morning I head to school. I get to first period and I sit in my seat. I was so tired because I was up all night thinking about this book. I was just casually doodling in the textbook when I fell asleep. I was out for awhile and no one woke me up. I rub my eyes and look around. Nothing. Nothing was around. I rub my eyes again. Again nothing. I look around nothing but thick forest for miles. I look down and the book is gone.

"How did this happen!" I screamed as I got up from the ground.
