Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust

Chapter One

She opened her eyes to finding herself staring up into the green canopy of leaves rustling quietly above her in the gentle breeze. The sun shone down in beams that disappeared before they reached the ground and she propped herself up on her elbows to have a better look at her surroundings.

She was in a forest clearing on a bed of fallen leaves and the smell of a nearby lake reached her as she took a deep breath in through her nose and slowly released it again. She stood up quickly and rushed towards the smell of the lake. She burst through the treeline and stopped suddenly on a pebble beach bordering a vast expanse of blue grey water. She walked towards the lake and cautiously dipped the toes of her left foot into the cool water and then moved to stand ankle deep in the water. The temperature didn't bother her as she felt a sense of familiarity fill her veins and she breathed in deeply as the light breeze nudged her hair across her face and ruffled the hem of her white dress around her knees.

The sound of splashing water made her open her eyes and she inhaled sharply as she saw a woman peering out of the water a few metres in front of her. A fish tail hung in the air behind the woman and she started swimming closer. The female standing didn't move an inch, entranced as she was by this creature she knew that one sudden movement could cause her to strike. As she had learned before, mermaids were not sweet. The mermaid stopped short of the shore and stared at the human in front of her, she would normally have striked by now but something about this girl seemed familiar. The mermaid opened her mouth and issued a series of clicks and screeches and in return got an answer. But not from the girl. They both turned to look at the treeline to see a boy step out into the sunlight. The mermaid disappeared into the depths of the water with a splash as the two people walked towards each other with a smile on their faces.

"Hello, Molly"

"Hello, Danny"

They rushed towards each other and laughed as they shared a tight and familiar hug.

"Welcome back to Neverland." Danny said with a smile.
