I woke up to a knock on the door. This was not routine. I said nothing as the door opened.

Doctor Smith walked in, "So Tevin, today let's try."

"Try what?" I whispered.

"Are you taking your anti-depressant medicine?"

"Sometimes."

"Everyday. Are you taking your Tourettes medicine?"

"Everyday."

"Good."

"When can I go home?"

"Today. After the nurses take out your IVs feel free to go."

I stare straight ahead at the wall. My subconscious tells me that Doctor Smith said something before he walked out, my heart tells me I don't care, my brain wonders if it was important.

Wearing my usual clothes, saggy black jeans tight at the calves, loose shirt, and my favorite Jamestown Story hoodie, I walked down the hall to first period. I made sure my sleeves kept down to cover the bandages on my wrist.

My only two friends waved from their classes. Coming late to school has its perks. One: nobody looks at you and two: less school.

Classes were boring as usual. I sat under the tree Dane, Apple, and I sat at. I flipped my hood up and leaned my head back against the tree. My hand twitched.

Then I heard Apples' voice, "Oh Twitchy, I love how you twitch." If anyone but her called me Twitchy, I probably would've thrown a fit.

"Yeah." I said. Please, App, not today.

Then Dane spoke, "Come on. Don't be sour."

"He's probably hurting Dane."

I could feel them stare at me so I said, "My eyes are killing me."

"Told you, Dane."

"Oh, shut up."

My head twitched.

"Isn't it just so cute?"

"What's cute, App?" I asked.

"The way you twitch."

"No, its hella annoying."

They continued talking while I tried to get light away from my eyes as best as possible. Halfway through lunch Dane asked, "You gunna eat Tevin?"

Routine.

"Not hungry."

Routine.

"Doesn't that Tourettes medicine make you hungry?" App asked. Routine.

My foot twitched, "Guess I'm not taking it enough."

Routine.

"Obviously not. Twitchy, I'm worried." App told me.

Rou- wait, worried?

I move my hood back and squint at her, "About?"

"My test."

Ah. Routine.

"Oh, yeah me too."

This is when Dane interrupts, "Whoa, Whoa. No, no. Tevin hates school. Remember Tevin?"

Routine.

"Yes. If Tevin wants to go to college then Tevin needs to learn to care. Tevin can learn from Apple." I said. I flip my hood up and lean back against the tree again.

"Tevin are you sure you're okay?"

"Yeah you didn't answer my message this weekend, Twitchy."

"I was...away."

"Where'd you go?"

"To um visit my uh family."

I didn't hear her move until she grabbed wrist, "Ow." I pulled away.

"Twitchy!"

"What?"

"Again? Let me see."

I rolled up my sleeve and let her examine my wrist.

Routine.

Apple poked the bandages.

"Watch it." I growl at her.

"It's what you get."

"Apple I think we should let him slide this time..." Dane says.

"Like every other time? He's not gonna learn if we keep letting it go."

"What's anybody gonna do about it? I already have meds." I ask.

"Twitchy what if one time you succeed? What if one time you...die?"

"I already did." The bell rang right after that. I stood up, grabbed my backpack and went to my next class.
