*Rose*
"Rose" I accidentally say aloud earning glares of everyone around in the table.
"Sorry" I murmured, clearly embarrassed by the situation that passed.
The meeting goes on for about an hour or so in which the boss explains about how prices are increasing and remarks on supply and demand are shared. I just listen to everything being said while looking at the cut on my left index finger as I start thinking about the rose....blood. I immediately shake my head trying to get the thought out of my head and focus.
After the meeting is over I quickly walk back to my small cubicle that I call as my 'office'. I sit down in the chair and quickly scan over all the papers laying around. "None of this makes sense" I say to myself. "Danielle." A male voice says and I instantly turn around giving him my undivided attention. "Yes Mr. Padulli?" He stares at me intensively for about 2 minutes almost as if he's trying to figure out what's going on in my mind before clearing his throat and fixing his posture while straightening his tie. "I just came to check on you and see if you're alright. You've been doing that 'thing' lately" He says while avoiding eye contact. I immediately shut my eyes knowing what he was referring to. I take several deep breaths before answering. "Yes sir. I'm fine. It's just..." He cuts me and I flinch at his demanding and blood-curdling tone. "This is the fourth time this week that you've done this during an important meeting. People are starting to get annoyed. One lady is already saying she's not attending anymore meetings if you're there." I look down ashamed at the fact that I caused all of this. "You have got to get this 'condition' or whatever you call it under control. I'm warning you Miss. Crimson. You have to this position more seriously cause if not then I can find someone who will understand?" I look up at him as I see him making that spine-chilling look that I hate so much. "Yes sir. I understand." I try to say reassuringly but it slightly comes out as a question.
He scowls for about 15 seconds before smiling. "Great! I'm glad we understand each other. Have a good night." "You too sir." I say as he begins walking down the hall. I turn back around staring at my open wound thinking about the rose before looking at the stack of paperwork, known as my enemy, covering my desk. I glance at the clock hanging on the wall which read 9:45 p.m. I sigh feeling defeated. "This is going to be a long night." I say as I begin filling it out.
