"Pretend"

The words came, stabbing her like a knife;
She just acccepted it as a part of her life;
She kept smiling,
As though she's not hurting.

That smile on her face,
looks strangely out of place;
But no one questions it,
Because it seems to fit;

She shows that she's not weak to cry,
Staying happy is just a mere try;
She promised herself not to cry,
In the morning, her cheeks are finally dry.

Her laugh is too perfect to be real,
She uses it to mask how she truly feel;
She kept listening on every word they say,
Didn't even notice her true self slowly fading away.

The boldness in her face is seen,
Not that it has always been;
It takes time, it takes courage,
To be someone You never encouraged.
