“Ooooooo.” All the girls said in unison.

I shook my head from embarrassment. This shit was O.C.

“I think Auntie Amb will like it Uncle Aug.” Chay stood next to me in the mirror.

“Me too.” Noonie said and stood next to me on the other-side.

“Me three.” Kay jumped up and down and stood in front of me.

We all looked in the mirror together.

“Aww let me take a picture of you guys.” Tanya came in front of us with her phone to take a picture. “Smile guys.” The girls cheesed super hard.

“August stop mugging.” Stacy folded her arms.

“Just take the picture.” I sucked my teeth and rolled my eyes.

Tanya took the picture then looked at it. “Amb is gonna love this. Let me get one of  just the girls. Say cheese you guys.”

“Cheese.” They all said in unison.

She took one of just the girls.

I went in the dressing room to take this shit off. I don’t mind throwing the party, but this was pushing it.

“August, you won’t even have it on the whole day.” Tanya said to me on the other side of the door.

“You really turned out to be cool.” I heard Stacy tell Tanya. “I thought we was gon have to cuss you out.”

I heard Tanya laugh. “I’m glad you guys told me. That’s the thing sometimes. When you’re friends with people you only get one side of the story. I was only going off of what Amb told me ya know.”

“Yeah, I get that. How did you and her become friends?”

“Me and Durrell were married.”

 “Married?” Stacy repeated.

“Yeah. And Amb became like a little sister to me. Although the marriage didn’t work out, we just remained tight.”

“I see.” I heard Stacy give a super fake laugh. “You think you might get back with him?”

“Girl no. That ship has sailed. He couldn’t be faithful if you paid him to be.”

“How long were you married?”

“Three years. Until I found out he had a baby on me. Broke me up pretty bad. Knowing I couldn’t have kids and then he did that. Makes you feel pretty worthless.”

“Aww, I’m sorry about that Tanya. You didn’t deserve that. ”

“Girl, its cool. I’m fine now. And Rell isn’t bad. We’re still friends. We were just young ya know.”

“How old were you?”

“22. I’m just glad Amb found somebody great. She hasn’t really been happy these past three years since she moved back from New Orleans.”

I furrowed my eyebrows and put my ear closer to the door.

“Why?”

I heard her whisper something to Stacy but I couldn’t quite make out what she was saying.

I came out of the dressing room, and they stopped talking.

“So you gon get it?” Tanya put her hands on her hips

“Yeah. Chay, Noon, Kay come over here and let me get y’all picture so I can post it on Instagram.”

The girls huddled together and I took a pic of them. I bought the suit, girls dresses, and accessories and we parted ways with Tanya.
