Three kinds of love...
There is the quickest love, the one that burns bright... and burns out... the love of, "I love you if..."
... I love you if you love me
... if you are pretty,
... if you smell nice,
There is the family, or good friend love.
The love of, "I love you because..."
I love you because you are my mother.
... because you are my sister.
... because you are my daughter.
Then, there is the highest love.
The love of, "I love you in spite of..."
I love you, in spite of mistakes that you have made.
I love you in spite of the ways that you mistreat me.
I love you in spite of anything else that might make you harder to love.
I have received this one from God, and I freely offer it to everyone else.
