Prom night, Senior year,
Dan would never forget that day for the rest of his life, he was going with his boyfriend Arin, Just a week ago he finally had the heart to even ask Arin to be his boyfriend. When Dan heard Arin say "Of course, I'll be your boyfriend!" his heart swelled with joy and for the rest of that day he spent it laughing with Arin. But now lets come back to today and see how this day ends.
"Hey Arin!"
Dan said as he arrived to his high school to find a sitting Arin on the stairs.
"Hey Dan."
Arin smiled but Dan had a feeling that something was off, he made the choice to not ask.
"Lets go inside shall we?"
Dan said holding out his hand and Arin was quick to grab it and they both headed inside.
As soon as they got into the crowded gym area they both met up with their friends Barry and Ross, seems they were both here with each other. They all shared waves and listened to the cheesy pop music playing in the background. As they were all talking Arin left to go to the bathroom around five times in total, it would seem normal since he was drinking a lot of punch but it was consecutive. Dan finally had to go check on him after the fifth time, so with that he left both Ross and Barry alone to talk.
He followed Arin as Arin rushed towards the bathroom, he accidentally pushed into others and quickly apologized. Once Arin was in the bathroom he headed towards one of the open stalls and quickly closed it, but he didn't lock it. Dan didn't know if this was in purpose or just a clumsy mistake. As soon as Dan was fully in the bathroom he could hear the sound of someone throwing up. Dan walked towards the stall Arin was in and saw that he was the one puking his guts out.
Dan slowly walked up to the hunched over Arin and held his hair so that it didn't go near his mouth. Arin flinched at this sudden motion but he couldn't ask who it was from the vomit. Arin knew that it was Dan holding his hair and after a small while he was done.
"Thank you Dan."
He spoke after Dan wiped his mouth with a piece of paper towel he got ( Since Dan didn't trust the toilet paper ).
"Are you okay Arin?"
"Y-yeah, I'm just really nervous."
"Don't worry Arin, its gonna be okay."
Dan said as he hugged his boyfriend in a caring but worried way.
After a small while of hugging Arin was ready to go back out, his stomach settled from being 'nervous'. Both of them walked out of the bathroom to hear the starting of their favorite song, You Are My Sunshine. Dan quickly smiled and looked over at Arin and grabbed his hand. Arin had a confused look on his face but still went along with it.
"Will you, Arin Hanson, share this dance with me?"
With a small smile Arin agreed and with quite a lot of other couples they started to dance. Once the lyrics started playing Dan moved his head closer to Arin's ear and started to softly sing.
"The other night dear, as I lay sleeping I dreamed I held you in my arms But when I awoke, dear, I was mistaken So I bowed my head and I cried."
They both continued to slow dance to the song, Dan continued to sing.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are grey. You'll never know dear, how much I love you. Please don't take my sunshine away."
