I see the hummingbird suck her nectar from the cacti
I see the woodpecker pecking on his tree
Peck, peck, peck
I see the kangaroo rat scurrying to his whole in the ground
I see all this as I soar through the air to my own cozy home in the saguaro cactus
I see the orange and red-tinged sun going down
As I see the beautiful silver moon rising
I see the native-Americans blow out their fire as they head off to sleep
Again, I hear the peck, peck, peck of a woodpecker pecking on a tree
Once more, I hear a hummingbird suck the cool nectar of a summer poppy. Then I see it go on to a desert marigold.
I feel tired.
I just had my nightly hunt.
Flap, flap, flap, as I go home.
