Towers twist and turn at every glimpse
down the narrow alleys you catch shady winks
cobbles creek with every step
even the canals have more depth
than thoughts that exasperate your mind
shriveled tulips is all that you have left
beneath mist there is rose tinted eyes
coffee shops breathing smoke into life’s lies
cardinal coloured lights brighten up the streets
the innocent unknown to what happens behind velvet sheets,
sheets smothered in smut and shame
this is a city that isn’t so tame.
Elegance can be polarized with vulgarity
but don’t let this tarnish polished clarity
for the x’s can only be hooked to so many gables
Remember to lay your cards on the tables
because bikes will distract you from all that is wrong
bridges and bikes help the pulchritudinous live on
