I quickly left the room and ran downstairs. I reheated the refrigerated breakfast and got together some of their favorite snacks such as Toad-in-a-Hole, cheeseburgers, an Irish breakfast, Samosas, tacos, and pretty much everything that looked and smelt good. Hey, I can cook really well and really fast, ok!
Unless you don’t have a mother, you know what my mom was doing. The usual talk about staying away from her daughter and all that crap. Boys, if you’ve been on a date, you got the same speech from the girl’s parents.
Well, pretty soon, they all came down, looking frazzled. I stood back to give room between the food and the boys. They all seemed to barely notice the food until I stepped toward it. Hands suddenly flew and grabbed and filled plates. Within seconds, every single plate was filled with at least something from every dish I had set out.
“Awkward silence.” I remembered what my friend had said at awkward situations. Usually, everyone would laugh at his joke and the awkward factor would fly away.
“You’ve got some mum,” Niall spoke through his fish and chips—they were actually fish and fries, but I decided not to question him.
“Yeah. She can be a little…overprotective,” Once, I had caught her doing a background check on my date for prom.
“A little?” Liam snorted. “She looked like we were horrible, child abusers. As if to think we would do anything bad to you.”
“What did she say?” Every gorgeous face turned red and all eyes seemed very interested in their food. I crossed my arms and chuckled. Like some teen heartthrobs could be intimidated by my mom.
Wait, no. That could happen.
“Fine. Shut up all of a sudden.”
“No, it’s just—”
“You see—” The voices of five boys trying to talk all at the same time are not something that a girl needs in the morning. Especially before she’s had her coffee.
“Uh-huh. Whatever,” I interrupted them. “Obviously something my mom said scared you and obviously, you’ve been somewhat approved by my mother. Or else, you would not be alive right now,” They all laughed, but immediately stopped at my serious expression. “And obviously, I need a cup of coffee!”
Zayn grabbed a coffee cup and poured some black coffee into it from a pot in the corner of the counter. He held it out to me and I sipped it. The bitter, hot liquid burned a path down my throat, I felt better. Somehow, coffee calmed me down. Maybe it’s because I already have too much energy.
“Thank you. Now, we really must do something outside of this house, because I have had it with this house.” I staggered around like a drunkard and acted like I had just tipped back more than enough shots. I grabbed onto Louis’s arm and smiled, still acting. His face made giggles bubble out and I stopped acting.
“The two things I requested were acting and dancing lessons. My teacher says I’m quite good.” I patted his arm and turned on my heel to slide to the fridge. I rammed into the block and rummaged around the contents for some creamer.
“We could go out to dinner. We could go horseback riding. We could play some football. We could…” Niall began rattling off ideas while the rest either said yes or no and I just nodded or shook my head.
Five idea filled minutes later, I finally found the creamer in the back. I turned after pouring some in. I grabbed a spoon and stirred it, with Liam fearfully watching the spoon.
“It’s your spoon!" I rolled my eyes at Liam, who blushed. So cute.
“We could get mani-pedis!” Zayn acted like a total girl, walking around with hands in the air and mouth open. I burst out laughing.
I snorted. One of my deep, dark secrets: I snort.
I instantly covered my mouth and stopped laughing. Louis stopped and stared at me.
And he started laughing at me! I couldn’t help but join in. We were laughing long after the rest of the boy band finished. My side ached be the time I stopped and tears were streaming down my face. Louis grabbed my forearm to stop from falling, he was laughing so hard. Finally we stopped.
Swiping my eyes for unwanted leaks, I straightened and met the uncertain eyes of 1D. Trying to control my giggles, I sipped the cooling coffee.
“What did we miss? Lou?” Liam’s eyebrows were nearly in his hairline.
“Steph just—” Louis was interrupted by my elbow being rammed into his stomach. “—She just said something that I can’t remember off the top of my head.” He wheezed.
I busied myself with taking a looooonnnnngggg sip out of my coffee. Through my lashes, I saw looks exchange and Niall nibble of another chip.
“Oh, that reminds me!” Niall walked over to the fridge and grabbed the whipped cream. He shook it and turned to me. I suddenly remembered that I had been the first one to fall asleep.
I raised my arms in surrender and closed my eyes. I heard squirting and felt the cool, fluffiness land all over my nose and mouth. After the appliance finished, I opened my eyes and licked my lips. “Satisfied?”
Niall nodded and squirted some into his own mouth.
