"Violate Me"

Chapter Two

Colton is missing. He has not been back since that incident—which occurred fourteen days ago. I immediately assumed that he didn’t want me anymore. Perhaps when he found out that I was a Mage he got scared. Maybe he thought it was weird that I had the mind of a seventeen year old but the body of a six year old.

I can’t sleep once again. The night is cold and I’m afraid of what lingers in the darkness. Colton isn’t here to protect me like he promised. My father went missing along with him, but that part I didn’t mind. My mother’s husband has passed away, my ‘dad’ is now dead—which sent mother into a horrible state of depression.

As I lay on my bed with the white sheets covering my body, I shut my eyes in hope of possibly falling asleep. All of the drama that has happened lately has made me stressed. The second I shut my eyes, I feel a cramp in my back. When I go to arch my back and rub the pain away, I realize I can’t move. I feel pressure pushing down on me and before I know it I’m gasping for air.

It’s heavy and I can’t get it off me. My eyes snap open—I’m alone. The pressure only increases and I try to scream but something is caught in my throat and is restraining me from doing so.

Everything vanishes. Now I am in darkness and I can’t feel a thing. My mind is still awake, but I’m disoriented and left in darkness.

I cry out in my mind, wondering what is happening. I feel like a prisoner in the darkness. When I try to wiggle my toes, I can’t. I can’t feel anything at all. Where is he? Now when I feel the most lost, Colton is not here. I need him. Right now more than ever before.

I don’t know how long I’m like that, but eventually I come back. I can now feel my body but something about it feels different. My eyes snap open and I can barely focus on anything around me. Suddenly, I realize my toes seem a lot farther away than before. My legs are longer and before I can even look at the rest of my body, panic starts to kick in.

I’ve gone through the physical transformation. Colton is nowhere in sight and I fear he will not recognize me anymore. Now with a body that matches my mind, I struggle to get my breathing composed. My room seems smaller; my body no longer fits on my bed.

I push myself to my feet. It takes me a moment to get sturdy, and slowly I creep towards my bedroom door. Once my hand comes down on the handle, I freeze. My family cannot see me like this. They will not recognize me and Olivia would freak out. She already has enough to worry about, like her father dying.

I need to find Colton.

I don’t bother taking anything with me. Making my way to my window, I slide it open, peering down over the ledge; Colton jumps down with ease and always lands on his feet. I swing my legs over and hope I can do the same.

The wind hits my face as I fall. The drop is more than I expected, and I hit the ground on my back. All air escapes my body, and I don’t dare to move. Hopefully I didn’t break anything. My breath is caught in my throat and there is an ache in my back. Shutting my eyes and regaining my composure, I decide I need to get up before I am found.

Once I stand up, it takes me a long moment to begin walking. I’m still breathing a bit heavier after my fall while I make my way towards the dark woods that seem so uninviting. Would Colton be waiting for me? Some nights I would sit by my window and watch him make his way home. He always went the same direction, straight into the woods and turns right when he was by the biggest Oak tree. I followed his pathway, constantly spinning around when I heard the slightest bit of noise.
