kaycee:

i groaned as i set down the last box onto the carpet. it was the heaviest box of them all, filled with random stuff that i forgot to put into boxes. i stood up straight and looked around the room. there was nothing special to it, the walls were painted a light gray and the carpet underneath my feet was soft and worn. but theres a part of the room that i fell in love with, and that was the window seat. it was painted white with small drawers and gorgeous yellow cushions danced on top. i loved it with all of my heart.

i turned around and laid down onto the carpet floor, staring up at the rocky ceiling. whenever i'm stressed out, i lay down onto the floor. it clears my head, for the most part. my head is a busy and loud place, not once has it ever been peaceful or quiet. but, maybe everyone's head is loud, maybe my head is just slightly louder

i felt that burning feeling in my chest that's all too common. i breathed in deeply and shut my eyes, trying to calm the fire breathing dragon pounding in my rib cage. i felt a ball in my throat and that sickening  feeling that i hate more than anything. my lips quiver and my hands begin to shake and-

"kaycee! someone wants to meet you!"

and before i know it, i'm standing in front of a boy with black hair and soft eyes. he gives me a warm smile, and for a second, just a split second. everything in my head stops and quiets down. and it was one of the most beautiful feelings. but it was only for a second
