chapter 2 Kristina

James went straight to his mom who was in the kitchen cooking breakfast because his dad left early that morning."MOM!! something happen last night...". "Yes. But first finish your breakfast. I have lots of work to do today so we can discuss whatever it is you want when I get back" his mom said.He didn't think anyone would believe if he said he had a "ghost gaurdian".But he had to tell someone.So at the bottom of the list of people who were least likely to believe what James said was his mother. Just as he was about to object her, he saw Mike entering his house. "yo man!! long time no see" Mike said as if greeting an old friend from the distant past. "It hasn't even been a month dude and you act like we haven't met in years. By the way where's Shaun?" James asked."I'm fine, thank you for asking" Mike said sarcastically."Shaun's already at the Prime market waiting for us. So hurry up we gotta get going". James wanted to discuss the "thing" that happen last night with his parents cause they are scientists and these things might have a big impact in the real world. But as his mom seems to be in "no talking mood " as of now,so he decided he would talk about this later. And he needed to take his mind off this. So he thought hanging out with Mike and Shaun and get his books and stuff would distract him.

Prime market was one of his favorite places in Riverton. It reminds James of Harry potter's Diagon alley, but with slightly broader streets.Starting from the mountain, the alley went all the way down to the river. The buildings on both sides were about 2 stories tall.And each shop has atleast one unique item that no other shop in the market is selling.James always wondered if there was some kind of secret agreement between the shop owners that made such thing possible.The market was almost always filled with crowd as all kinds of things were available here.He passed through a shop whose sign read "We bargain......Only if you bring anyone of your 98 year old grandparents..... with their parents."."Well that is a subtle way to give a message" on of the bypassers said. Mike had gone to search for Shaun.Meanwhile, James thought he would buy the books he needed so he went into the bookshop.From the outside it was a shaggy old building with a wodden sign that said "The bookstore with all the books you'll ever need".But as soon as he entered he was shocked.The insides were made of highly polished marbles with orange lights lit every where giving the white marbles an orange shade.There were book shelves everwhere like in library ordered in rows.At the far end of the room sat an old man with nothing but wrinkles on his face and a white glasses reading a newspaper.The desk seemed like the resolute desk from the white house.He went inside to search for the education section when he ran into her. The most beautiful girl he has ever seen. A fair skined blond hair girl with black eyes and red lips. James knew that she was in his class along with him and she always topped the class. He never talked to her till now because of his motto.He was sure he would get attention if he spoke to the most famous girl in school. But he realized that this was not school.So he can talk as much as he wants."Hello Kristina" he said trying to sound casual. But his heart was racing. he couldn't even breath properly due to the... excitment or whatever this feeling was.

"I'm sorry, but  do I know you?" she asked politely.

"We're from the same class....i'm the guy who sits at the back right corner. My name's James".

"ohh!! yeah. i remember some of the guys....."mentioning" your name. I'm sorry i should know all the names of my classmates.But in my defense you dont participate in class at all and you are quite...". She said.

"yeah i dont blame you for not knowing me i wanted it to be that way." James said.

"Why?" She asked, which seemed like a geninue curiosity.

"Well.....It's personal."James said feeling uneasy about the conversation. He didn't want anyone to think he was crazy.He cant go out saying to people he meet I have a ghost gaurdian who is forcing me to join some club that I know nothing about and if I don't I'll probably die.But if I do I will still die.

"By the way do you have the list of books that we need to have?" James asked hoping to change the topic which would make him look like a weirdo.She might have understood James's uneasyness and left the subject there. "Sure. listen I still have to buy some other stuff and i'm quite busy today.... it was nice meeting you James. " She said handing him the list."No problem. See you at school tomorrow"James said smiling. He was slightly disappointed that they didnt had much of a conversation but he felt good later on. He never spoke to any girls properly.For some reason this girl seems different from others.James wanted to be her friend.

Maybe I am going crazy.

"Hey man!! good to see you again bro. And i saw you conversing you kristina.Nice going bro!!." Shaun said nodding with an evil grin at the end." Good to see you too bro.And FYI i was just asking her for the books list". James said. Shaun was the kind of guy who thinks he goes smooth with girls but gets dumped by them. They spent the whole day catching up with each other. Then they played Dota 2 .Then James thought he had enough fun for the day and returned home.

"Had lots of fun did we?" said Russ's voice.But James couldn't see him anywhere. He was on his way to home now. "Where are you?" he asked. "I am in your head boy." Russ said as he appeared in front of him. "What?.... What exactly are you?". James asked. "I am what remains of my spirit. Scientifically, I'm just a fluctuation in electromagnetic fields. No one except you can see me (unless i want them to) because certain things like the frequencies and stuff don't match and because ours match i can see everything you do and even read your thoughts." Russ said. James didn't know how to take this. He was taking to ghosts who can read his thoughts. For some reason it didn't sound crazy to him and he had a feeling he can trust Russ. "So you were dead? And now you are living in my brain.You better pay rent or I'll throw you away Mr Ghost."James said.

"You can try"Russ said challengingly.

"I'm guessing your death is related to the brotherhood of whatever it was..." James said. " Yeah.... So you wanted to know what the brotherhood is about right?"  Russ asked. "No thanks i dont want to join in anything that got people killed." James said. "Listen to me" Russ said seriously."The brotherhood is a group of people who defend the people from things like me or worse.... only a handfull of people have your capacities which is why i was able to synch with you. You have the exact same capabilites as i have when i was of your age." Russ said. "Then you must have sucked at sports and atheletics." James said trying not to laugh."Now that you know of this see for yourself what's happening around you. you'll definitely change your mind". Russ said smiling.

Like hell i would.Who would be crazy enough to join this brotherhood thing where people get killed and stuff? that too on some dead guys recomendation!! haha.

But he never expected when he would end up after 10 days from now.....
