He knew about the hard life of farmworkers when he was a child Chavez and his family travel one farm to another to pick the crops they were paid very little. They had to work longer hours he later served in the united states military after serving for two years he went back to work in fields with another Mexican Americans but life was not better so he took up the cause to help farmworkers have a better lives.
Many kinds of workers have unions . A union is a group of workers that joins together. The workers usually want better treatment and better pay . He started the national farmworkers Association(NFWA). It was the first union for farmworkers in America. He was elected president of the (NFWA). Later in the name was changed to United Farm workers. The unions Moto, or saying was Viva La Causa . That means"Long live the cause"he told them that we believed in me king changes in peaceful ways. He gave speeches and led marches.
Farm owner were not treating workers who piked Grapes fairly. They cut the workers 'pay. Chavez I wanted to bring attention to these farmworkers problem.
In 1965, he led the first union 's first strike . Farm workers use to pay grapes. The farm owner is that angry because they lost money.
