I walked to the edge of the cliff, not fearing I might fall. I looked out over the horizon and saw a Blackjaw approaching on a white stallion. Blackjaws are easily defined by their crimson cloaks and the white veil over their faces.
I knew they would find Tyler soon, but I didn't know it would be this fast.
"Isn't there something we can do?" A Bandito to my right asked anxiously. I shook my head.
"He has to break free himself," I said sadly. My voice was slightly muffled because of the yellow bandana I had over my mouth and nose.
The Bandito looked away, and I can tell he wants to do more, but I know it's no use. Tyler must break free for himself, not because we told him to.
I looked over the valley before my eyes landed on Tyler. He was walking towards us. He looked up at us, and for a second it felt like we made eye contact. But then my attention was drawn behind him.
The Blackjaw approached Tyler. He turned around and didn't run when he saw the Blackjaw. Not a good sign, I thought sadly.
I watched as the Blackjaw got off his horse and walked to Tyler. He still didn't move. My fists clenched in disgust as I watched the Blackjaw mark him, covering his neck and jaw with black.
The Blackjaw turned and returned to his horse. As they trotted away Tyler quickly followed. Come on, you can do it, I urged.
Suddenly Tyler stopped, and he slowly looked up to us. I almost yelled in joy. I reached into my pockets and grabbed a fistful of yellow petals. Remember the yellow!
As I threw them down, so did all the other Banditos. It was beautiful, as thousands of yellow petals cascaded down the cliff.
Come on Tyler, break free!
I watched eagerly as Tyler continued to stand still, even though the Blackjaw had started to walk away. I watched as he turned as started to sprint away from the Blackjaw.
But my happiness soon changed to fear as I watched the Blackjaw turn and start to chase him. Tyler kept tripping on the slippery rocks, and the Blackjaw was getting closer. I couldn't help but gasp when he fell and lay still.
