Ever since you could remember, you and Liam have been great friends. You both met at daycare whenever you were only about three years old. He has always been very...quiet. He wouldn't talk to any of the other kids, so he spent most of his time drawing and coloring pictures in the playroom, alone.
You, being the gregarious child you were, went up to him with a farouche smile, "Hi my names, Y/n," you chirped happily, "Can I color with you?" you ask feebly, not being able to pronounce your 'r's very well so it came out as a 'w'.
Liam looked up at you, wanting to tell you to go away at first, then suddenly he looked you over and something inside of him just flicked like a switch. He gave a smile and a nod, "Yea sure! My name's Liam," he says with a small chuckle, feeling surprisingly jovial. He didn't know if it was because someone had asked to color with him, or maybe it was the fact that you had asked.
You grin and grab a coloring book, sliding it forward as you skimmed through it, huffing and pouting when you couldn't find something you wanted to draw. Liam glanced over, noting your frustration and slid his coloring book over, "You can draw in mine," he says with a smile, he also had an issue pronouncing his 'r's.
You smile with a nod, taking one page, "You can keep coloring the other one!" you chirped, continuing to scribble on the small race car, smearing it with deep blues and bright pinks. Liam smiled, continuing his coloring, he was also coloring a car, but he was much more precise and could color only slightly better, keeping the crayon inside of the lines, most of the time.
After a few good minutes of coloring and occasionally chatting, your parents had arrived, waiting for you up front with smiles. You didn't want to leave your new friend, but it seemed that you had no choice. You carefully ripped out the page, handing it to Liam, "It's a bye-bye present," you explain with a smile and a giggle.
Liam carefully took the scribbled picture with a smile, hugging you tightly, "Will you be my friend?" he asks quietly.
You return the embrace, "Yes, your best friend forever!" you titter gleefully.
Your mom leaned against the doorframe as she watched this adorable scene play out, chuckling softly, "All right, Y/n, time to go!" she says, grabbing your hand and leading you away from Liam.
You waved at him, "Bye-Bye!"
Liam waved back, clutching the picture close to his chest, not wanting to let it go ever. He was saddened by your sudden absence, but he knew you would soon see each other again.

Many years later, now in middle school, you both walked down the halls, laughing and chatting as you headed to your final class of the day.
"Liam, can we hang out after school again?" you ask, simpering as you glance over at him.
Liam chuckles and nods, "Of course, you're always welcome."
You nod and grin happily, sighing as you made it to your class, everyone filing in a line outside the door as they waited for the teacher. You and Liam leaned against the wall, you humming quietly, and Liam, taking glances over at you occasionally. Most of the class were too busy chatting and gossiping to notice a few high school boys, strutting down the hall.
You happened to drop your pencil, it rolling out in the middle of the hall. You went to grab it, accidentally bumping into one of the teens, "Watch where you're going, kid," he growled, glaring down as you scrambled to grab your pencil.
"S-Sorry," you stuttered, standing up, "I-I wasn't paying attention," you giggled apprehensively, taking a small step back.
"Yea, that was obvious, dumbass," he spat harshly. You frowned, looking away sadly, mostly with embarrassment, but that final detrimental comment did really hurt your feelings. Liam, on the other hand, was fuming. He was much taller now, almost the high schoolers height.
He shut the book in his hands, storming up to him, "Apologize," he says sternly, no sign of amusement in his fierce voice.
The high schooler and his friends turned around and laughed, "Yea, what are you gonna do?" he asks with a proud smirk.
Liam's expression darkened, "I'm only going to tell you...one more time, apologize," he demands, his voice laced with warning and sinister undertones.
The group of boys laughed at him, now the kids in their class looking over at them, worry filling most of their expressions, but also there were a few quietly saying, 'Fight fight'.
You frowned, gently grabbing Liam's shoulder, "It's fine, Liam, it doesn't matter," you try to persuade him to just ignore them, but Liam gently removed your hand from his shoulder. Without hesitation he slugged the teen in the face, perturbing sounds filling the hallways as the boy slammed into the locker.
He groaned, clutching his face with his hand, his nose pouring with blood, clearly broken as it was slightly crooked. You gasp, stepping back, this was the very first time you have seen Liam so...enraged. The other boys didn't even bother to try and fight him off, running to tell a teacher or staff member. Liam leaned down, gripping the male by his hair, forcing him to look at him.
"Never even think about saying something like that to Y/n again, do you understand?" he asks with a straight face, his eyes gleaming with a red hue. The male beneath him nodded, continuing to cover his bleeding nose. Liam sighs as he stood up straight again, going back over to you and smiling happily as if nothing happened.
Many of the kids were panicking, not knowing what to do in a situation like this, of course, they should tell a teacher, but they were also slightly afraid of Liam as if he would get revenge and break their nose. You, on the other hand, were positively stunned and just utterly shocked.
"L-Liam, why would you do that?" you stuttered, in a slight daze as you recalled the past scene.
Liam just pats your head as if you were a small child who couldn't understand, "Ah, if I hadn't of done anything he would've hurt you first." he says, frowning at the thought of you being injured, "And I would never allow that," he says, a hint of seriousness in his voice that made you back away in slight fear.
He did get into trouble, of course, they considered sending him to juvey, but they didn't because that was his first offense, or at least it was the first time he'd been caught. So he merely got a few weeks of detention and a few days of in-school suspension.
As you both began to saunter home you whined, playfully hitting his arm, "Now I can't come over," you pout, "And you hurt someone over me," you add, pouting like a child and crossing your arms over your chest. He merely chuckled softly at your actions.
"Well I wouldn't want anything bad happening to you," he repeats for what seemed the millionth time, ruffling your hair with a small smirk.
"I can take care of myself," you blushed faintly, playfully swatting his hand out of your hair, "Hey, you messed my hair up!" you complain, trying to fix it as you approached your house.
Liam stopped you, turning you to face him, his callused hands tenderly fondling your soft hair, fixing it in the process. 'So soft' he mused as he continues, his hands trailing down to trace your cheek, eventually letting go, "See, all better." he chuckles.
You blushed, realizing that other people had probably seen what had just commenced. You shook off the strange feeling in your chest, rolling your eyes, "Yea, sure, you probably just messed it up more," you huffed. You were both used to your child like banter, you weren't really mad, you were just embarrassed.
Liam gave you a warm smile, "Well, I guess I'll see you when I see you," he laughs, not knowing the next time you would both meet, or at least, he was pretending.
You nodded, your hand lacing around the doorknob, "Yup, I'll see you later!" you chirped, jiggling the door open and shutting it behind you.
Author's end card;
Agh! I'm so sorry, this was absolutely awful! I've just been reading a lot of these Yandere x reader stories and I thought it would be fun to make one! I am slightly disappointed with the ending, but hopefully, it will get better soon. Thank you so much for reading the prologue! If you have any suggestions or tips I would love to read them!
