Chapter One-
The pouring rain was a calming and tranquil sound, it was one of sheer peacefulness, but it had also had an underlining of hope with it. The weather had been beautiful, but also problematic, causing stress and panic to terrorise the community. The local cafe was full of a variety of people, commuters and regular customers, the glass windows were steaming up as their body heat and the dampness from the rain mingled together, casting a rather beautiful aura around the building. With the mix of the sweet aroma of pastries and the bitter smell of coffee, the lighthearted and relaxing atmosphere, it was more than enough to cast the perfect mood for any music producer to come up with ideas for their next big hit.
Min Yoongi was a simple man, he didn't ask for much, he didn't complain, but when he wants something done, you know better than to cross him. Yoongi was a modest man, he earns a lot of money yet has a simple flat, the luxurious items were kept to a minimum, a decent phone, watch and clothes, but there wasn't anything that screamed money. Nothing but the grand piano that was hidden away in the spare bedroom with the rest of his musical equipment. He wanted to live a simple life, must to the displeasure of his parents.
Growing up in one of the wealthiest families in South Korea, he grew to be someone he hated, someone who took everything for granted, it wasn't until he met someone by the name of Jung Hoseok that his life changed for the better. They met in a shared class together during their freshman year of college. Hoseok wasn't poor, but he wasn't filthy rich like Yoongi was either, both of his parents owned a ramen shop which was popular among the locals so they never worried about bills, that was until Hoseok's little sister fell ill, and the medical bills became too much the Jung family to bare. Yoongi offered to pay for the medical bills and was baffled when Hoseok declined.
"Your sister is ill and needs treatment, how can you turn down money?" Yoongi remembers himself saying.
"Look, my family isn't like yours. We work hard for what we have, and I don't take anything for granted, not even our friendship. I'll find a place to work and then that way there will be additional money to help pay for her medical bills," Hoseok had replied.
For days after that, those words were ringing in Yoongi's head, not being able to concentrate during lectures, not like he did anyway, he could buy himself good grades, but Hoseok really had made him think. Yoongi had offered him thousands of won, free of charge, no strings attached, but because of his ethics and morals, he had turned the money down, even though he desperately needed it. Maybe Yoongi took everything for granted, if his parents fell ill they would be rushed to the best hospital in Korea- no, the world, in a private suite with no waiting time and the medical bills would be no problem. Hoseok was completely different.
Yoongi's epiphany was enough to kick him into shape, he got himself and Hoseok a job in a local radio station, the pay wasn't a lot but for their age, there was honestly no room to complain, it was probably because they recognised Yoongi from the tabloids, so they felt intimidated into raising the pay for the teens which disheartened Yoongi, but they needed the money, so he didn't speak up about it. The tasks were simple, organise CD's and vinyl into genres then into alphabetical order before stacking them, general cleaning and running a few errands for the show hosts every now and then. They worked their way up and soon enough, collectively, they all managed to raise enough money to pay for the medical bill.
