How Baahubali:The Conclusion should have ended

Shivudu was shaken with rage and fury when Kattappa narrated to him the story of deceit and suffering endured by his parents. Kattappa continued to tell about Devasena's unshaken faith about Mahendra Bahubali's return to Mahishmathi to make Bhallaladeva face the wrath of her suffering and how she rejected Kattappa's proposal many a times in spite of his prompting to free her, on many opportunistic occasions. These words of Kattappa struck Shivudu to the core. He finally began to see a reason for the unexplained longing within him to seek a higher purpose in life, which he has been attempting through adventure, love and rage. He was his father's manifestation, born out his mother's longing to restore to Mahishmati the rightful ruler of its hearts. His looks changed from fury to devotion as he turned away from Kattappa to look at Devasena. It took quite some time for Shivudu to get a clear vision of Devasena and come up with words, as he kneeled before her, holding her hands. Devasena though found it difficult to look at her son,as her eyes were overflowing with tears, could clearly see her longing being fulfilled.Kattappa though momentarily was overwhelmed with a feeling of content for an end to Devasena's suffering, turned away when guilt haunted him to remind him that he was a cause for her suffering. Devasena's brother (Jaya Varma) reminded Shivudu of his duty to avenge the enslavement of Devasena not only for the people of Mahishmathi but for Kunthala's pride as well. Shivudu stood up on his feet and looked at Jaya Varma in the eye and said "It was not my mother who has been enslaved".

Meanwhile in Mahishmathi, Bhallaladeva spent the whole night trying to figure out the reasons for the unprecedented series of events that occurred during the day. He began to grow perturbed as there were no signs of return of either Kattappa or his son Bhadra, to inform him about the person and motive behind Devasena's abduction. He sent a fresh batch of soldiers and spies along the same route to know about their whereabouts. From the information obtained from his spies, he understood that it was the labourers who worked for the statue uplifting, who first took out the name of 'Baahubali'. He ordered his guards to assemble before him, the labourers along with their families, by the dawn. Bhalla sensed that something serious was about to happen when the second batch of soldiers and spies sent along the abducted trial, hadn't returned back. He ordered his commander in chief to get all the divisions of the army to get prepared for a war and wait for his command. Bijjaladeva tried to pacify Bhalla's anguish, by stating that it must be one of the Kunthala rebels who might have tried to create a distraction by taking Bahubali's name. However, Bijjala himself had many unanswered questions and left for consulting the priest for a solution. The very next morning, Bhalla began to address the labourers and their families, saying " I know that it was you people who first took 'his' name during the statue uplift. I want to know from where you have gained the audacity to do so. The safety of your women and children depends on your truthfulness". The guards dragged away the wives and children of the labourers and were ready to strike at the them at the command of Bhalla. The labourers didn't know what to say and began pleading to Bhalla that they were only instigated due to their fellow labourer taking the name. The old labourer who first noticed Shivudu, knew that the only way out was to confess to Bhalla that it was him who first saw Bahubali and took his name. However he felt a sense of betrayal in revealing out the name of their beloved ruler and rescuer, under the fear of his oppressor. Beyond that he sensed something unusual in the behaviour of Bhalla. He noticed Bhalla's meeky body language, trembling voice and his fear to even mention 'his' name, while questioning them. This gave him the confidence to lie about Bahubali's presence during the event. He decided to sacrifice himself if necessary for the safety of his fellow workers. He stood up enacting fear and revealed to Bhalla that it was he who first took the name of Baahubali, when a mishap was prevented during the statue uplift. He said that he uttered the name as a thankful sign to Bahubali remembering a similar event from the past, where he was rescued by Amarendra Bahubali. Before Bhalla could react to the situation, the spies he had sent to know the whereabouts of Kattappa and Bhadra(son of Bhallaladeva), returned and informed him about Kattappa's return to the kingdom. Bhalla rushed to the kingdom entrance and noticed Kattappa in a chariot with a middle aged captive. Bhalla noticed Kattappa's head being hung low with shame and questioned him about Devasena. Kattappa replied that he had failed in rescuing Devasena and Bhadra who were captured and abducted by the Kunthala warriors, but was able to capture their leader Jaya Varma and brought him to Mahishmathi upon his request, to ensure the safety of the prince.
