You know that feeling when you go shopping and it looks like you bought a lot, only to realize the moment you come home that it was just a few items ?
News went around about the new student on campus like wildfire. Some say he's quite a looker, girls already prepping themselves up to get noticed, guys looking over their shoulders protecting their girls like predators. He must be special to cause people to go crazy. I won't deny the exciting feeling I had inside of me but like my shopping theory, I realized I wouldn't get much out of it. Why ? Because I'm the one they tell you not to hang out with and no doubt he will be informed about who to hang out with and who to avoid.
I have made studying at the university an adventure ever since my reputation got some bad attention. I haven't really been able to make friends and so out of creativity my name was given; the lone wolf or something to do with princess.
I came to Amsterdam with limited memories a little over five years ago. I know I'd been brought up by my Grandma even though I was already a teenager. An accident she refused to talk about caused me to miss out school for some time so that explains me being older than most of the seniors but that's okay. I have no memories of my parents or other family members. I only know that I have a Grandma and my name being Reign Jordan. A little after I touched down with Grandma in a new world I had been in and out of hospitals. I was informed that I might not regain the majority of my memories; those being everything that happened before I woke up from the accident. The first faces I saw were Grandma's and the doctor's. A few days later we moved from London to Amsterdam. I haven't visited London ever since.
And here I am, watching everyone minding their own business, possibly unaware of the new student wandering around. I'd notice if girls started squealing.
When I was new I had a guide, showing me what is where or what there is to do, those kinds of things. It doesn't happen often but I was lucky someone helped. You're mostly left to fend for yourself because like they said; you're old enough to do the exploring. New guy was also one of the few who was granted a tour. It must've been a while since he'd been present because my moment of peace was taken away when a stranger interrupted.
"I was told to be careful when it comes to hanging out with you."
I looked up at him curiously and then behind him where a group of girls gave me a not so happy look. Despise, oh boy.
"Didn't your mom teach you to listen to warnings ?"
I went back to my notes, trying to remember what it was I had in my head before he came.
"I was always one up for adventure." I placed my elbows on the table and folded my arms on top of each other. "Makes two of us."
"Your fanclub.," I gestured with my pencil, "doesn't like your latest one."
He turned slightly to take a look behind him, a few have scattered to probably go to class or find food. "They'll survive"
"I'm Julian."
"Nice to meet you, Julian," I smiled and stood up, hoping my mind will come around again with the forgotten words. Just a few steps were taken before he stopped me again. "Aren't you going to tell me your name ?"
With a smirk I turned around and caught his waiting eyes, "Lone wolf... Or something associated with princess." And then I turned back around, headed to my car, skipping the rest of the day. People barely call me by my name and renamed me. One day I almost forgot what my grandma called me; Reign.
