By now you're probably looking for plot, or at least the semblance of a conflict for our humble protagonist to overcome. I would be as well, except that too doesn't matter. The world in which this uncaring, jolly misanthrope lives in is one in which strong cyniscism is a virtue, a good sense of humor is a survival trait, and everyone who does not share these two traits is just plain wrong. This makes the matter of explaining the struggle a contrived experiment in which every other character is an antagonist and the hero's response is always the same, unselfish apathy.
