It was just like any other day in Anne Shirley Cuthbert's life. She woke up, groggy from the loss of sleep, due to her late-night reading of "Jane Eyre" for the 5th time. She unwillingly washed her face and got dressed for school. The only highlight of going to school was getting proper education after longing to go to one after so many years as an orphan and of course, spending time with her few friends. Anne, who often got horrid flashbacks of her troubled and traumatized past, tried her best to hide her emotions with her imagination. But she almost immediately cheered up by thinking of the lovely walk she was going to have with her bosom friend, Diana Barry. She hastily combed her hair and despaired at its color while braiding it.

While walking along through the woods, listening to Diana chatter excitedly about everything going on in town, she marveled at the lovely trees, flowers, and of course, the beautiful, magnificent, sky. "Anne?". "Anne! Are you listening?" Said Diana. Anne snapped out of her reverie. "Sorry Di. I was just-"
"Imagining" finished Diana. Anne smiled a sheepish smile. "You know me. So, what were you saying?" She said. " I was saying, Gilbert will be in school today!" Diana said excitedly. "Whose that?" Asked a confused Anne. "Why, Gilbert Blythe of course! He's the most handsome boy in all of Avonlea!" Replied Diana. "Isn't he the boy whose name is carved up on the porch wall with Ruby Gillis's?" Asked Anne. "Yes, Ruby has been dead gone on the poor boy, but he doesn't notice her a bit. I'm sure Josie Pye will be more malicious than usual. She loves to rub it because she knows the Blythe family well." Diana said disdainfully. "Like we really need it!" groaned Anne, tired of Josie Pye's insults. She let her thoughts drift to more pleasant things as she walked.
