I am chained with the shackles of silence
I seem to be free
But when I scream I agony
My voice is still unheard
There is truth behind my every word
I never knew I lived in such a world
~
Tears stream to form rivers
I close my eyes, my heart shivers
My hopes shattered, my life tattered
Whilst I lay marooned and fettered
~
You see this prison, this ain't my home
Locked in that cell, abused and torn
For a crime I never did, nor condoned
The people have left me, I'm all alone
Those in power think they have my life drawn
~
But they don't know my secret reality
That although bound in chains, I am truly free!
With my Rabb I have a reward guaranteed
For 'the world is a prison for those who believe!'
~
For years there has been no justice for me
Yet I shall not complain of my Lord's decree
I will wait for the day of reckoning to proceed
When man will be questioned about every deed
~
But for now, my screams are whispers
My dreams are dying embers
I am given no name, been put to shame
Because I am chained
With the shackles
Of silence.
