I stepped out of the car and into the sunshine. I looked at my new home. I was excited. I can now say I live in Newport, and that I live next to Kirsten Cohen, who is the late Caleb Nichol's daughter. I grabbed my bags and headed inside the house.
My mom recently married Dallas Breyer, the owner of Breyer Productions. He has produced many award-winning films, such as Middle of Starting Over and The Race Worth Losing. My mom met him at our local bowling alley. He was having a meeting with one of his clients (at the bowling alley, I still don't know why?) and took one look at my mom and decided he wanted a piece of that ice cream cake. I was skeptical of him at first, but he grew on me. He didn't try to impress me with his glitz and glam, but he also didn't try to parent me. He was in between, and I really liked that.
"I had my good friend Kirsten remodel the house.," my step dad, Dallas, said. I stood in awe of how amazing the house looked. It was beautiful. I couldn't believe I lived here. Up until today I have lived in an old trailer house with water that has so much iron, you can't drink it.
"Wow Dallas, this is just, wow." I didn't know what else to say, or where I should go.
"Oh! Jenna, I almost forgot, pick any room upstairs." I walked upstairs and put my suitcases in the biggest room I could find. When I walked back out to the car to get the rest of my stuff I saw two boys in the drive way. One was lanky with curly brown hair, while the other was a bit more built with straight blonde hair. Both seemed to be about 17. I have to admit they are both pretty cute.
The lanky one started to speak to me. "Hi, I'm Seth Cohen, and this is Ryan. We wanted to see if you need any help carrying anything inside."
"Yes Please. I really could use the help." I handed each of them a box. Seth almost dropped his box. I tried hard not to laugh. "Let me show you were to put this stuff." We walked inside, and I led them to my room.
"Where are you from?" Seth asked.
I hesitated. If he knew where I was from, he would turn and run. "Not here. A small town."
"Oh. Wow. Very specific," he said sarcastically.
When Seth put his box down he let out a deep breath.
"As you can probably tell, Ryan does most of the heavy lifting."
"More like all of it." Ryan said with a half laugh.
"So he does speak." I was surprised.
"I do," He said raising his eyebrows.
"Yes, he does. And as you saw Ryan I carried that box up here. It was very heavy. Now that we've established that lets move on with this conversation. Shall we?" Seth stated. "My mom is throwing this party tonight and I was wondering if you wanted to come? Of course, your parents are invited as well.' Seth seemed pretty nervous asking me. I decided I would leave him on his toes for a little bit.
"Tempting. I'll think about it. And that box you carried was full of my socks." I started laughing and Ryan joined in.
"What? No, its not." Seth opened the box and facepalmed. He soon joined us in laughter. "Well, I won't be on the powerlifting anytime soon." Seth was funny. I liked that.
We walked downstairs. Ryan seemed to be acting a little strange. He seemed sad. I think Seth noticed it too.
"Ryan, you good?" Seth asked him.
"What, oh yeah I'm good. Just thinking."
Seth leaned in toward me and whispered, "I know what's wrong. I'll tell you later."
We continued down the stairs. I liked how they looked. Very classy. It still hasn't registered in my brain that I live here. We finally got to the drive way. We stood in awkward silence for a few moments. Then Seth broke the silence.
"Don't forget about the party tonight. Its going to be totally awesome. And if it makes any difference, we have a pool house."
"I guess you will find out tonight." I grinned at him then turned to walk back to the house.
"what's your name?" Ryan asked.
I stopped in my tracks and turned around. I smiled.
"Trouble."
