Cold dirty dangerous. That was just some words Gwin would use to describe the country known as Skyrim. What was she thinking when she moved here, oh yeah to escape her past. That's why she changed her name and came to this hell hoping to start anew. Unfortunately for the dunmer nothing but trouble has happened to her since she came. She couldn't even keep track of how many people have tried killing her, how many monsters she dealt with, and how many rascist nords seem to hate her just because she is a dark elf. The nords insults and rude comments had gotten to the point where unless she needed to talk to one to buy items or deal with the law, she now wanted nothing to do with any nords.
Gwin looked different than most normal travelers and one could suspect she was up to something. She wore a two piece fur armor, carried a sword but no shield, and had no shoes or other armor on her body. Her redish brown hair was about shoulder length thick and had a single braid on the left side. Her eyes were large slightly slanted and a pure blood red. She had some war paint on her face in a red color. On her right arm is what looked like blue tattoos, but on closer examination they were raised more like scars, or some form of crystals. Perhaps some strange tribal decoration having gems somehow placed onto her arm becoming part of her skin like strange piercings. On her left arm there was no gems but the arm looked odd somehow the coloring darker than the rest of her body, and had a bandage wrapped around the very top of her arm where it attaches to the shoulder.
Gwin made her way through the wilderness past mines and now reached some docks and watery areas. After more time of traveling she found the city that was marked on her map known as Riften. She approached the gates where two gaurds stood, but was told to stop. "What is it?" She asked looking at the guard. "To enter the city you must pay the visitor's tax." He stated staring at her. She asked what it was for and he remarked for the priviledge of visiting their city of course. Gwin got mad and realized no way was this legal. She had dealt with enough crooks and scams to know when someone was cheating her. "This is obviously a scam. There is no such thing as a visitor's tax." She said loudly which seemed to make the guard nervous. "Alright alright. Keep your voice down. Do you want everyone to hear you? I'll let you in, just let me unlock the door." He said scared if she screamed loud enough he could get in trouble for trying to steal from travelers. He unlocked the gate and Gwin walked in with a smirk happy she was able to handle it without getting in trouble. The dunmer had a short temper and had been known to make things worse when mad enough.
Making her way into the city she noticed some man standing to the left side of the road who tried talking to her. She ignored whatever he was saying and kept going. In the town square or cirlce where outside stalls were to sell wares she looked around at the merchandise. Gwin planned on going to the hotel soon and get some rest after a long long travel but wanted to look at some things to see if anything was worth her coin. "You've never done an honest day of work in your life eh lass?" A male's voice spoke up taking her by surprise. Looking up she saw a nord looking at her. The man wasnt old, but not young. He had a redish brown straght medium length hair and short beard. He was well built and wore somewhat fancy clothes like most store owners and those doing well for themselves. Was it his voice that took her by surprise making her heart stop for a moment, or the strange accusation he made maybe?
"Excuse me what do you mean?' She asked somewhat insulted. "I mean you have allot of coin but did not earn a septim of it honestly." He remarked. She was now getting angry listening to this nord. Was this a new thing, all elves are thieves? "What would ever give you that idea? Besides my wealth is none of your business." She said trying to remain calm. What the man said next suddenly made her realize it wasnt that she was a dunmer it was because he himself was a thief and set up the scam at the gate. Her being able to figure out she was being cheated and the way she looked dressed and walked made him figure she was no honest innocent citizen and must have a criminal past which could be useful to him. She tried refusing and walking away but something made her stay and listen to his proposition. To prove herself and join his organaztion which she could only assume was the thieves guild he wanted to put her through a test.
At first she thought of refusing. But Gwin was an adventurer, and isn't stealing just a form of treasure hunting therefor an adventure? Besides...her past would say she wasn't the perfect law abiding citizen and was even good with locks and stealth. But would she actually join a group of thieves? Gwin wanted to say no so badly, but she couldn't. There was always a rebelious side to the dunmer and when ever she had a chance to enjoy life and do as she pleased she would. And here was this man offering her a chance to do just that, and be paid for it. She agreed and listened to his scheme of robbing Madesi an argonian jeweler and planting the stolen ring onto another man. She said she would think about it and have her answer by the next morning which the man who said his name was Brynjolf seemes a little impatient with such an answer. But what she meant to say is "Yes, I merely need tonight to set things up and get ready." As Brynjolf left Gwin went to the Bee and Barb inn and paid for a room. She knew she would take him up on his offer if she thought it was possible, but she would have to check on a few things first once the sun set and the streets were clear.
