Laughter fills the car. Daddy looks back at me through the rearview mirror. He flashes me a pearly white smile.

My mom married well. Dad is a very handsome man and my 5 year old brother was lucky and got his looks. Definitely going to be a heart breaker when he grows up.

It was about 10 at night and daddy, Lily(my sister), and I went to the store to grab last minute groceries for a cake my mom was trying to make. Of course it's a 15 minute drive from our beach house to the store.

We were laughing because I refused to sing along to the song that was playing, S.L.U.T. Dad had dared me to sing at the top of my lungs in the store aisles. Of course I didn't, so he told me I had to sing in the car. Lily even came up with a stupid new family rule, if you are in the car you have to sing.

"Party pooper." My sister says turning to me to "boop" my nose.

"Daddy, just pay attention to the road." I say rolling my eyes.

"Not until you sing along sweetheart."

"I guess we'll just crash then." I say shrugging and lookin down at my phone, a smile tugging at my lips.

"I guess so." Dad sighs, I look up and he looks back at me and winks. We have barely a second after Lily yells "DADDY LOOK OUT!" To swerve the car to the right, sending us against the railing of the road. The tires screech against the asphalt causing the car to spin.

The car we dodged comes to a stop but another car hits us head on causing our tiny Toyota to flip until we land upside down in the middle of the road.

"Girls?" Daddy asks.

"Here." Lily says

"I'm okay." I respond. Not long after we feel another hit come and we are flipped 3 times again, this time landing on our side.

This time, no call from dad comes. All there is, is silence. I struggle against my seat, I'm pushed against the door and my seat belt has locked and won't come undone. I get tunnel vision and start to fade in and out. The last thing I remember is the sirens.

Beep beep beep
I jerk awake, drenched in cold sweat, my face stained with dried tears.
Beep beep beep.
I sigh and turn over to turn off my 5:30 alarm. Next to my clock sits a picture of my dad giving  a 3 year old version of me a piggy back ride.

"Another day daddy. I love you."

And with that I drag myself out of bed to get ready for yet another dreadful day at school. My feet hit the cold surface of the hardwood floor as I swing my legs out of the warmth of my bed to make my way over to my closet. I walk into it(my family is pretty wealthy so we have a pretty big house). I finally pull out a white tank, blue cotton shorts with gold pineapples. I slip on gold sandals, and walk out of my closet shutting the door behind me, then walk over to my desk to curl my hair and do light makeup.

"Monti!! You're going to be late if you don't get down here!"

"Coming ma!"

I check myself one more time in my floor length mirror on the back of my door, throw my back pack over my shoulder and swing open my door to make my way downstairs.

"Morning momma." I say placing a kiss on her forehead while she's drinking her morning coffee and reading the newspaper.

"Morning sweetie. Hurry and get yourself breakfast and brush your teeth, Emily will be here soon." I nod and pop some bread into the toaster, then walk over to the island to flip my textbooks closed and put them in my backpack.
