Chapter One: Anxiety

Growing up being Finn Hudson's little sister was never easy. She was always overlooked, always put second, in her perspective at least. Today was Ryleigh's first day as a freshman at William McKinley High School and she was terrified. Ryleigh was soon interrupted from her peaceful sleep as her older brother, Finn jumped on top of her and hit her with a pillow. "Ryleigh wake up you need to make breakfast before we go to school!" Ryleigh groaned as her older brother continued to hit her with a pillow. Finn soon got tired of shaking her so he resorted to the only thing he knew would wake his sister up. Finn got his speaker from his room, put it on Ryleigh's bedside table next to her bed. Finn started playing the loudest song he could think of... All Star by Smashmouth. After 10 seconds of the song playing, Ryleigh sat up in frustration and yelled "OKAY IM AWAKE FINN". Finn chuckled as Ryleigh hit with with her pillow and walked downstairs to go make breakfast. 

Ryleigh looked through her closet carefully knowing whatever she wears might be covered in some sort of slushy by the end of the day. She decided on a pink, short but flowy dress, her short, brown boot heels and her brown leather jacket. She put product in her long, brown, curly hair and applied some mascara to her already long eyelashes. She went into the bathroom to brush her, as she called it because of her braces, metal mouth.

Soon enough it was time to leave. Finn headed out the door while Ryleigh hesitated, her anxiety kicking in at just the thought of walking into a new school with new people. "You coming?" Finn said, looking at Ryleigh horridly, knowing his sisters struggles. Ryleigh looked at the stairs knowing if she ran now Finn would never catch up with her, unfortunately Finn knew his little sister too well and said "I know what you're thinking and you're not hiding in your room forever." Ryleigh slowly backed up from the front door to the stairs and quickly ran to her room. She heard her older brother yelling at her to come back, knowing it would make them late to school. 

Ryleigh sat up against her bed, held her knees to her chest and started to cry. She heard Finn grab the spare key on top of her door and unlock the door. "Do you seriously need to do this now?". Ryleigh looked away and felt Finn sit next to her on the bed. "You know I'll be there to protect you right? Nobody will slushy you as long as they know I'm your brother." Ryleigh looked over at Finn, tears in her eyes and said "You wouldn't know. You've never been slushied you're quarterback of the football team and the most popular guy in school." Finn smiled and replied "And you're gonna be the co captain of the cheerios with Quinn. Cheerios are untouchables Ry, the jocks wouldn't even look you in the eyes knowing that. Now come on, I'll be right there with you." Ryleigh wiped her tears and smiled "Okay" she said, and took a deep breathe. She grabbed her bag and walked with her brother to the car.

After a 5 minute drive, they finally arrived. Ryleigh grabbed her bag and slowly caught up to her brother. Before reaching the school doors Finn and Ryleigh heard a voice call out, "Hey Hudson!". They turned around to meet the voice of Noah Puckerman, Finn's best friend. "I'll see you later" Ryleigh said as she made her way to her first class. Ryleigh looked down at her schedule and tried to find her first class. "Are you new here?" Ryleigh looked up from her schedule to meet a girl dressed in a blue button down shirt and plaid skirt. Ryleigh nodded her head. "Nice to meet you" she stuck out her hand, "I'm Rachel Berry, I'm going to be a big, big star one day." Ryleigh shook her hand and said "Nice to meet you I'm Ryleigh. Ryleigh Hudson." Rachel's eyes widened as she heard Ryleigh's last name. Ryleigh looked confused until Rachel said "Is your brother Finn Hudson? Like quarterback of the football team, Finn Hudson?". Ryleigh answered slowly, a little intimidated by Rachel's reaction. "Yeah we're a year apart, I'm a freshman." Rachel smiled and said "I'll show you to your first class". Ryleigh smiled as Rachel grabbed her hand and led her to her homeroom. "Hi there Hobbit" Ryleigh and Rachel looked up to see 3 cheerios, one of which Ryleigh already knew, Quinn Fabray, her brother's girlfriend of 3 months. "Ryleigh what are you doing with her" Quinn asked as she glared at Rachel. "She was just showing me around" Ryleigh answered looking at Quinn carefully. Quinn grabbed Ryleigh's hand and walked away with her. Ryleigh looked at Rachel sympathetically as the three girls dragged her away from her first new friend at McKinley. They finally stopped at the Cheerios' private lounge and sat down on a couch. "Ryleigh let me introduce you to Brittany and Santana" as Quinn said each of their names, they both smiled and waved at Ryleigh. "I don't understand why you dragged me away from Rachel, she seems really sweet." The girls laughed and Santana said "She's the bottom of the social pyramid. Being seen with her is the worst thing for your reputation if you're gonna be a cheerio, Ryleigh" Ryleigh gave a confused face but decided not to speak. "Ryleigh Hudson please report to Coach Sylvester's office immediately".
