Same Day - Day One

Night - Sheriff's Station

David was sitting in the office. Emma, Ella and Freya walked closer with mugs of tea, handing him one.

"Thank you," David told them. "I hope Kathryn's somewhere warm. Not out in the cold."

Freya sighed. "David. I think you need to start worrying about yourself a little bit more here."

"Your wife is missing," Emma told him. "You're in love with another woman. There's this unexplained phone call."

David nodded. "I know. I know. I just... I can't explain why it says that. I didn't do anything to my wife."

Ella gave him a look. "Emma and I are pretty good at spotting a liar. And honestly, liars have better material. Now go home."

"I can go?" David asked in surprise.

Freya nodded. "We don't even know if there was a crime yet. So get some sleep."

David sighed in relief. "Thank you."

David placed the mug on the table, getting up to leave.

"And David?" Ella asked. David turned back. "Maybe get a lawyer."

David was saddened but understanding by that remark, nodding, leaving.

Granny's Diner

Ruby was standing next to August at his table. "You can't be serious. A whole year without a roof on your head?"

August nodded. "I get used to it. Plus, I had the motorcycle, so if I didn't like a place after a while..."

"Ruby!" Granny called.

Ruby ignored her, looking at August. "I've never even been out of Storybrooke. What was your favorite place?"

August thought for a moment. "Nepal. Best people. They have these prayer temples carved into mountains that are overrun with lemurs."

"What's a lemur?" Ruby asked.

"Ruby!" Granny called impatiently.

Ruby sighed, rolling her eyes. "Just give me a sec."

August looked at Ruby. "They're little animals, and they have these eyes that reflect light, so at night it looks like they glow."

Ruby smiled.

"Ruby!" Granny snapped. "Stop flirting and get over here!"

Granny knocked on the counter twice.

A man named Peter was seen knocking on a window.

Red called from inside. "Who's there?'

Peter opened the window. "Let me in."

"I'm just a poor, old widow," Red mocked. "Spare me!"
