Author note: Hi everyone I really wanted to write a book about one of my favourite movies ever , other than the prince of Egypt and frozen of course. If you haven't seen this film I really recommend it ! I'm not religious at all , but the film makers did a great job a portraying Egyptian culture and accuracy of their beliefs. The prince of Egypt is just stunning. , the accuracy of the clothes and the architecture is just amazing. I swear I was Egyptian in a past life , I love it so much !!! Hope you like this , my writing skills are not at their best at the moment but I'll try ahah!

He tossed an turned in his sleep , these cursed dreams sent from his god providing him with graphic images and violence that he had never seen on a scale like this before. His brows furrowed and his heart beat erratically as savage emotions tore at his heart. Guilt , regret and remorse , for something that he had no idea of. His dreams had the strangest way of interpreting his god's wishes. Beads of sweat had formed in his hairline and at the base of his neck.

He heard gut wrenching cries of pained civilians , and wails from now childless women. The suffering that was going on , baffled him, this was not the Egypt he knew of. Yes , the Egyptians did have slaves , but so did many other cultures he knew of, Egypt may be brute but it was fair. He had come from nothing, and look at him now , second only to the Pharaoh , he had everything he'd ever wanted.

He was drowning , his arms frantically flailing in the water , thrashing through coagulated red substance that had tainted the river Nile. The river god Hapi , was certainly displeased at this doing, the heavens roared above as Ra continued his journey against the evil Apophis whilst the sun disappeared behind the clouds. A darkness had fallen over Egypt , causing civilians to flee in terror , their world it seemed , was coming to an end.

Images flashed through his mind , scarred backs , young children collapsing , fire raining down on Egypt , frogs , locusts , brothers that had a broken bond. Children of the Yochecved, being hurled into the Nile, his heart sank , tears threatening to fall. He kicked to the surface of the Nile ; bloodied and traumatised. As he took a breath for air , he awoke.

His head darted up from the pillows , his chest heaving from the tumultuous emotions that he had felt . His pulse pounded erratically in his ears , his breathing was on the verge of hyperventilation , and he had begun to feel queasy with anxiety. It took him a second to calm down and to remember where he was, he noted the Egyptian hieroglyphics carved into the wall, a language he was confidently fluent in , he himself had been one to etch hieroglyphs into the walls of Lord Potiphar's home.

He smiled down at Aesenath who was sleeping peacefully beside him , her legs intertwined with his. He gently brushed her unkempt hair off her face with his fingers, he chuckled slightly , for her hair was usually hidden under a perfectly styled wig and ornate headdresses. Only he would see her as she naturally is , and he loved it. He owed her more than she knew , she was the mother of his two Sons , his friend , his lover and the one to talk him down in moments of crisis, and he couldn't be more grateful.

He pressed a gentle kiss to her temple before quietly sliding off the bed , to dress. It was still dark outside for Ra had not yet made his journey through the underworld. In Egyptian religion It was said every day he was born each morning in the east and dies in the west , in the night he fought through the underworld , so that the sun could rise again.

He was raised a Hebrew , but he had come to include Egyptian religion into his daily life , after all he was brought up having Egyptian as his second language. He didn't think it would hurt for him to have good knowledge of the religion Pharaoh and subjects worshipped. His children were also raised learning Egyptian culture , Egypt had given him many great things.

He didn't want to wake the servants , so he simply dressed himself , he actually preferred it at times, not having numerous people in his personal space , he'd grown up from humble beginning ... mostly and he preferred it that way.

He pulled on his white kilt , followed by golden cuffs that encircled the upper part of his arm and tunic , tied it at the waist with a gold sash. He paused , glancing at himself in the mirror , he thought of the one he had at home , the last time he had glanced in a mirror , he was young boy , now here stood a man , he barely recognised.

It scared him sometimes , how quickly life could change and his had been through some ups and downs. How easy it was to lose everything with one trade of silver , yet somehow he was here , Zapenaath Paneah , ruling in a foreign land to that of his own.

He slid his golden cuffs on to his wrists and pulled on his golden winged scarab pectoral that symbolised his authority over Egypt, given to him , personally by the Pharaoh. He slipped on his sandals and moved to gaze out on the balcony , seeing numerous torches alight coming from the camp and homes of which his brothers and family resided in.

The Pharaoh and lord Potiphar were sceptical of bringing the Hebrews into Egypt , more people using their already limited grain supplies. After finding out , what the brothers had done to Joseph , they knew that they couldn't be trusted , no one would sell their own family into slavery. They questioned their honour , something lord Potiphar valued highly , to forgive something so cruel and dishonourable so easily shocked them.

The Pharaoh has decided it was best to place guards nearby in case of an uprising or anyone tried to cause harm to his Grand vizier. Potiphar had understandably so been protective of Joseph , for he viewed him almost as the son he never had , Joseph and him were close , and he was the husband of his Niece , Asenath.

Joseph was thankful for his family here in Egypt , the protection they provided and love he gained from it. As much as Joseph refuses to admit it , he had forgiven his brothers , but wether he could forget or not , was a different thing. It was a traumatic experience for him, being dragged from his home at such a young age against his will, submitted to cruel treatment and fruitless labour. Not knowing if he was to live or die , if his mother and father were ok. It hurt , cut through him deep , an open wound that may never heal, that his brothers gave away his life for 20 pieces of silver .

He hadn't realised he had been trembling like so from the wrath of the dreams and the haunting memories of his past consuming his mind. He was surprised that he had not yet gone mad , or how Asenath coped with him at times, his moments of brooding. He needed air , to think of what the dreams meant , but something within him knew this wasn't metaphorical unlike the other dreams. He was seeing the future in physical terms , and he didn't like what he saw, the amount of blood spilled was horrific.

He had to stop it ! But how ?

He had to see his father ,  as much as he didn't want to wade through his sea of brothers at this time of day, the fate of Egypt was resting on his shoulders.
