Ellie's POV
**********

"Honey" my mom calls from the kitchen" can you come down here? We have something to tell you"

"Yeah sure mum"

I run down the stairs, jumping down the last four steps and landing on my little brother Timmy.
"Sorry Timmy" I say getting up and walking into the kitchen.
"You are such a klutz." My dad says as I sit down in the chair opposite my mums
"Oh Timmy, we want you in here to" my mum says in her almost overly sweet voice.

"But mummy I just started watching dragons race to the edge!" My brother complained

My brother just turned six and he is absolutely obsessed with it. he practically begged my mom to buy both movies, also he has a countdown on the fridge until the new movie comes out.

"You can miss one episode dear, we can even record it for you so you can watch it later." My mum said trying to hide the irritation in her voice.

"But mummy-"
"No buts get over here right now"
She was pretty close to yelling that.
"So what's this about?" I ask trying to change the topic.

With that my dad brightened up." "Oh yes, we are going on a holiday to New York City before school starts for the both of you. Think of it as some... uh... family bonding time."
"We will be staying for a week so be sure to pack lots of cloths." Mum put in "and don't forget a bathing suit because there's a swimming pool at the hotel."
"Yeeessss" Timmy yelled.
"Cool, I'll go text all of my friends and tell them I'll be out of town."

The rest of the day was spent packing our suitcases for the trip, lots of yelling(mainly me at Timmy for playing on his iPad) and searching for things to do in New York. We all went to bed exhausted.

**********next day**********

I woke up to the sound of screeching. It wasn't a nice bird chirping or Even my alarm clock. No it was screeching. It was coming from my window so I opened my curtains and sure enough, there was a great horned owl on our roof screeching.

"That's odd." I say a little to loudly because my brother answers me. " "what's odd?" Timmy says coming into my room with his toothbrush and toothpaste in hand.
"Oh Timmy you scared me." I say jumping at the sight of my brother in his pjs.
"Sorry sis, but you said something was odd. What's odd?" He repeated his question.
"Well... there's a... um a... owl outside my window." I say cursing myself for chocking on my words.
"Yeah sure, you've gone mad."
"And you haven't?"
"True" he said tilting his head as if he were thinking
"But really there's an owl out side my window. Go look."
"Sure" he says sarcastically as he walks to the window. He pulls back the curtains revealing the same owl I woke up to.
"Holy moly there is an owl outside you window, keep it there I need to get a picture."
"Oh god" I say as he runs out of the room and comes back with his iPad in hand
~Snap~
He takes the photo just before it flys off.
"Gotcha, I'm showing this to mum."

I walk down the stairs still half asleep because it's only seven fifteen and I usually wake up at eight thirty.
"Ellie, hun we need to talk." My dad says in a nervous voice which makes me nervous.
"What is it dad? is the trip canceled?"
"Well sorta, read this"

He hands me a letter the has a red seal on it 'that's weird who sends letters anymore' I think. It seems they already opened it so I pull out a letter that read this:

Dear Ms. Ellie Malfoy(Stirling)

We are pleased to inform you that you have been excepted at Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all the necessary books and equipment. Terms begin on September 1st. We await your owl by no later than July 31st......
