Bloodless

Chapter 1

-Alice-

The cold air brushed against my neck and my breath was visible in the cold atmosphere. "Are you ok?" I questioned Mason, he looked  like he was lost in thought.

"I'm sorry Alice, I'm a bit out of it today, after what I saw last week" Mason replied. He looked like he saw someone being murdered right in front of him. He was sweating and shaky and had a rather odd face. We were sitting in the cold abandoned park watching the stars in the illuminated sky.

"Mason whats wrong, you have never been this distant and I'm really worried about you" I stated

"Nothing I guess, I just saw something very unusual the other night. Now all that I can think about is what happened and its been going on for the past few days" Mason mumbled

"What happened? What do you mean? what did you see the other night?" I questioned

"You really don't want to know, I didn't just see it, I heard it, I felt the fear radiating in the air of that person, it was all my fault this person didnt deserve this and  I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time" Mason replied in a low tone.

"What?!?! What is it Mason? What did you see? Tell me its ok I may be able to help you" I reacted.

"NO YOU CAN'T ALICE, YOU CANT HELP ME FOR WHAT I HEARD AND FELT THAT NIGHT AND WHEN I WENT THERE THE NEXT DAY ITS JUST MESSING ME UP EVEN THINKING ABOUT IT SO JUST DROP IT,please Alice for me" Mason shouted, I could feel the tension in the air lingering with the fear and something else.

"Ok, I should get going now I'm sorry for upsetting you" I added before walking away with my head lowered and my long brown hair sweeping my face from the chilling wind.

I walked down the empty streets to get to my house, this town dies down at around nine at night but there are a few people who stay out later.

I walked through the door quietly and stepped up each step trying not to make a sound. "Oh hi honey" I looked up to see mum standing at the top of the stairs looking down at me.

"Hi Mum, why are you up so late?" I looked at my phone to see it was one am. I tried to sound calm but my voice gave a way that I was worried that she would get angry at me for being out so late.

"I'm ok with you going out late so don't be scared I'm fine about it. I only got up to get some water, you look upset whats wrong?" Mum look concerned and she wouldn't leave me alone until I told her.

"Its Mason he seems kinda off and upset and snaps every time I ask him about it" I explained. She look at me worrying what was up with Mason.

"Its ok honey men are always like this they hide stuff important so they seem tough, your father does it all the time" Mum smiled as I laughed at her reply.

"Thank you Mum I'm going to bed, love you Mum" I said before walking to my room.

"Wait Alice one more thing, I would like you to be with someone or be home early because there have been a couple incidents and a few murders in the area lately. I don't want you getting hurt or worse" Mum added before I walked in fully. I nodded my head and walked into my room  quickly shutting the door behind me.

I cant believe people are dying in this peaceful little town. Mason might have seen it and that's the reason for his odd behaviour. I have to ask Mason about it, but not like ask him ask him. He may get angry again and also be careful about being out now since there is a murder or murders.
