Little girls dream of being a princess. They dress up like them, act like them, and pretend that their house is their castle. Reality is being a princess is not as romantic as Disney portrays.

Little girls also dream about their wedding. Falling in love with a man that will treat them the way they want and will make them truly happy. They also making them happy in return of course.

The sad reality for me is little girls grow out of the wish to be a princess. But I'll never stop wishing for someone to love me for me. I'm not the beautiful princess that you see in movies. I'm ugly. Or at least that's what every one says. My parents try to hide me as much as possible. But one day, a maid forgot to lock my window an some was able to take a picture of the huge birth mark on my right cheek. It is this red patch that goes from the bottom of my right eye to below my cheek bone. People talked about it for months and my parents were terrified. From them on the tried to keep me as hidden as possible and always tried to cover the ugly mark when I did have to go out because they were hoping people forgot about the birth mark on their daughters cheek. Luckily for them most people did. My parents were able to lie their way out of my imperfect feature.

Anyway my name is Aspen. Princess Aspen of Aluma. Never heard of it? Yeah no one has. We are our own private kingdom that has very minimal contact from the outside world. Heck, I haven't even seen outside the palace gates. We are a very small country and all of our people live at most 5 miles from the palace. Many people work for the palace so they just stay in the wing made for workers of the royals.

I've always wanted to meet different people. I never get to meet anyone outside of royal visitors and the occasional maid filling in for my main maid Ana. This gets very boring because I want to venture out but I'm stuck behind close doors which gets very lonely. I guess I could have it worse though right?
